«Chris and I have been together since we were 16! We met through a mutual friend and started messaging on MSN, the rest is history! Just before our 10-year anniversary Chris proposed by setting up a fake job for Nadia because I’m a makeup artist, so he had a friend of a friend book me for a pretend job at a hotel by our favorite spot in London and waited for me in the room to surprise me. I have never been so shocked, and we spent the weekend soaking it all up on cloud 9», bride shared with us.

«We had a natural color palette of olive green to nudes/blushes. We had the incredible local florist, Iosif and his Maragos team who brought our vision to life with the use of wild looking dried and natural flowers. I have kept my bouquet at home as a reminder of the day. We also had a beautiful arch made for the Townhall which was stunning. The menus and table plan had the Syros sealine hand drawn on them by my maid of honor Megan, we used this drawing throughout the wedding. We also had handwritten names of places by Chris’s family friend, it was so nice to have these personal touches».

«It’s very hard to choose a favorite moment as there were many but we had to walk down the aisle twice due to a miscommunication which was quite funny and memorable. We also had a moment after the ceremony to debrief together on our own which was special».

«I went for a plain, corseted gown with button detailing down the back and pockets! I wanted something that would suit the grandeur of the Syros Townhall!»

Brides’ advice: «Aim to finish getting ready preparations an hour before your ceremony starts to allow time for photographs and to drink the moment in».

It felt like such a surreal moment in my life to be standing there waiting to step into this next chapter in my life in a setting as spectacular as Greece with my husband and our families. Bride’s advice: “Try not to sweat all the small things and details because no one will notice them except for you. Ultimately, you need to do things that are most important to you and your partner. “Our event lasted 3 days. Day 1 was a pre-wedding party, day 2 was the Indian ceremony and reception and the 3rd day was the Jewish ceremony and reception so there’s was lot of details to consider for all 3 days, but everything and everyone involved were incredible and we could not be more lucky! Today we are featuring the special day of Maartje & Gregory! The couple came from USA and Israel and chose to celebrate their love with a romantic destination wedding in of Crete. The ceremony and reception areas were decorated beautifully with fresh garlands of white lisianthus and greenery by Weddings By Moments, that accentuating the Greek element in such an incredible way. The tables at olive grove were decorated with glass vases, candles and baby breath flowers were incorporated flawlessly in the romantic concept of their wedding. The bride chose a natural wedding makeup and a flowy hairstyle created by Michalis Tsotras that we absolutely love! We can’t wait for you to see the full video from this intimate wedding in Crete!

The bride shared with us: “We met at work – I was working in the Tel Aviv office and Greg in the Boston office. I had to travel a lot to Boston for my team and that’s how this all started! Greg proposed at home in a intimate setting. He went down on one knee in the living room and after I said yes- we had a fabulous dinner at a fancy restaurant in Boston.”

Bride’s Advice: “Get a sweetheart table for your wedding reception – it’s the only time you can connect with your partner really.”

“My wedding dress was a creation from Grace Loves Lace, I wanted a beautiful flowy dress that wasn’t heavy.”

The bride shared with us: “We got married in summer in Athens. We met, at the end of a church service. I saw her across the room, looking good, dressed nicely with an amazing smile and laugh. So I approached her and asked her name. Being the extremely forward person I am, after about 3 minutes of talking, I managed to sneak in the “are you in a relationship” question; key information at such an early point of interaction. She said she was, and thus began our 3 years of platonic friendship. Somewhere into the 4th year of friendship, we started seeing each other differently – the rest is history, the groom shared with us.”

“I proposed, the main aim was to surprise her completely, and I did that. Made her think that she had to pick me up from a music rehearsal and when she came to the studio to collect me, she walked into a building decorated with rose petals and candles on the floor. And traditionally, I got down on one knee and asked her to make me the happiest guy in the world. During COVID lockdown, we weren’t allowed anyone to be around, but we managed to sneak a few other people into the building to cheer us on.”

“We always knew we wanted to have a destination wedding and with that thought, it would be a shame if we didn’t capture the beauty of the idyllic scenery around. We went with a fresh and elegant theme of cream, gold and greenery. We loved the natural Greek eucalyptus and wanted to incorporate that into our decor. We opted for: hydrangeas, roses, orchids, baby breath and some great complimentary flowers selected by our amazing florist. Our ceremony took place under the pergola at Island Private House. We wanted to have a central feature for our ceremony in the form of a flower arch which doubled up as a great photo backdrop for our reception overlooking the sea. We also had hanging wisteria, greenery and fairy lights covering the pergola which gave a magical effect against our mirrored aisle laced with candles. I always wanted a cascading bouquet, and it complimented my dress so well. It matched our theme of flowers and decorations beautifully. Really wanted high centerpieces for the reception decoration but due to the high wind on the day, decorators went for low centerpieces which were still perfect nonetheless.”

“As we’re both creatives, we wanted to make sure that our wedding captured elements of who we are and our personalities and so added little touches throughout. These were my favorite parts. We designed and put together our wedding programs in the form of fans to help our international guests cope that little better with the heat. We also transported 100 personalized handmade scented candles from the UK which (my) sister made as favors with scents ocean breeze and sweet fig. To this today we’re still getting requests for more. Favorite part of the day were the ground fireworks, the Party until 5am, the Games – to keep everyone entertained and the Ice cream cart.”

“Ahh the dress! Where do I even begin. Shopping for a wedding dress in a pandemic was not easy. Shops were closed, which meant I was unable to try on my dress before ordering. I had to trust that the designers would execute the dress and design according to my expectations. Sad to say that whilst I loved the dress in the end; a Lena Berisha bespoke dress, my experience with the designer was less than satisfactory. From being sent someone else’s dress just weeks before the wedding, to having to arrange my own re-delivery of my dress from the US, to incurring additional costs as a result that were never reimbursed, to the dress not being made as per the agreed design. I could go on. It really does overshadow the whole feeling a bride should have when shopping for her dream dress. However, despite my woes, my guests were non the wiser and were stunned by my organza ruffle mermaid dress with 2 metre detachable train on the day . I felt like a princess floating on the clouds.”

“Everything from start to finish was amazing. It may sound cliché but the ceremony was perfect, the reception part and the speeches were perfect and finally the party and dancing was perfect. And where things may have gone wrong, our wedding coordinators on the day made it so that we didn’t even know or notice. It’s unfair to every other special moment in the day, to pick and choose just one as our favorite.”

Bride’s Advice: “You can never be too prepared and start planning well in advance of your wedding. There were times I thought we were well ahead with the planning and had time to take our foot of the gas, but planning your own wedding, abroad and during COVID-19 adds a complexity that is very difficult to prepare for. Make sure that you agree everything in writing with your vendors and ensure everyone is on the same page so there is no confusion on the day. We put together “briefs” for each of our vendors which mapped out our expectations and all the details they needed from us to be successful on the day. One of our vendors even joked that he’d hire us to be consultants for future couples to show them how it’s done.”

Stephanie and Clement had a spring wedding in Paxos island – “the island of the seabirds” – in Greece and they celebrated every minute of that day from the beautiful ceremony with the simply chic decoration to enjoyable reception with their relatives and friends. There is no defense for the love we have for this wedding beautifully planned by La Fête that is presented with so much emotion in the following video by Cinema of Poetry.

The bride shared with us: «We met in 2011 in Australia, at a birthday party. In May 2018 during a romantic weekend in Paxos (Greece) we went on a getaway to celebrate our anniversary. While we were alone having dinner in the middle of the olive trees, Clément proposed to me with a ring in a shell. We wanted our wedding to reflect the authenticity of the island for which we had fallen in love. This is why we had a simple and elegant decoration highlighting the natural assets of the place such as the olive trees, eucalyptus etc. Planning a destination wedding from abroad and not speaking Greek, it seemed obvious to us to use a wedding planner. We had the chance to meet the wedding planner Anais from  La Fête  who was able to meet all our desires and introduced us to us outstanding vendors. Aris from Eye Witness Stories and Kostas from Cinema of Poetry were able to transcribe the wonderful atmosphere of this special day».

«My favorite moment was when our eyes met as the bride’s boat arrived on the island where the religious ceremony was to take place. At that moment, we both realized the importance of this unique and solemn moment. My advice to a bride-to-be: Trust your feeling to surround yourself with the right people and above all, enjoy every moment. Don’t hesitate to hire a videographer in addition to a photographer. Our best bet was to trust ourselves and organize our wedding in abroad with our family and friends on vacation».
