We loved Eleni’s and Lewis’ beautiful engagement shoot in London and we are excited to share today their beautiful wedding that took place in the picturesque village of Lefkara in Cyprus. The natural wedding decoration with olive branches, pomegranates and lots of greenery complemented perfectly the ceremony and the wedding venue areas. The lovely bride designed herself the wedding invitations, table numbers and place cards, giving a sweet personal touch to her wedding in Cyprus! Have a look at this beautiful wedding captured by Antonis Georgiadis and be mesmerized!
“I had vision of how I wanted our wedding to look, but definitely developed this through Instagram and Pinterest. I followed lots of designers and calligraphy artists whose work I admired, which also really helped me with the design of our invitations. Love4Wedding also helped enormously, it was through this site that I found our photographer, Antonis Georgiadis. Given that I was planning the wedding from the UK, it was also great to see potential wedding venues featured on the site, as it helped us narrow our short list of places we wanted to see on the times we visited Cyprus”, the bride told us.
“We met through friends whilst both living in Malta. After I moved back to Cyprus, we started dating long distance, with Lewis visiting most weekends”, the bride shared.
“I decided to propose about three months before actually asking the question. I booked a long weekend at Lake Garda in Italy, at a small town called Gargnano. I designed the engagement ring so was very excited to see Eleni’s reaction. After dinner on the first evening (and after a glass or two of wine for courage!) I asked Eleni to marry me from a romantic spot overlooking the lake. Fortunately, she said yes!”, the groom shared.
“I choose a wedding dress from Pronovias in the UK after my second fitting. The dress had feather details on the shoulders which I loved and it matched what I was looking for, which was to be elegant, sexy without being too revealing whilst highlighting my figure. The dress had a long train that could be hooked up and a slit in the skirt, both of which made it easy to dance in”. The groom shared: “Eleni looked beautiful and confident in her dress, it simply looked as though it were designed with her and our wedding in mind”.
The bride shared: “The ceremony took place at Panayia Eleousa church in Lefkara, while the reception was held at Ktima Dafermou in Lefkara. Lefkara is my dad’s home town, so there is a family connection. However, we both think the village is beautiful and thought it would be the perfect place to hold a wedding in Cyprus in the summer”. “We also fell in love with Ktima Dafermou with its outside space and scenic views. We could see ourselves, our friends and families really enjoying dancing and celebrating under the stars”, the groom added.
“My grandma has an olive grove which I wanted to draw upon and Lefkara in general feels very connected to nature. I therefore wanted our wedding to reflect this in its theme and concept, with lots of greens, blues and gold highlights, use of olive and a rustic but refined feel. I designed our wedding invitation suite with the same themes in mind, which hopefully meant that our guests had a feel for our theme before arriving. I used olive branches as well as other local flora in our crest and in other design elements”, the bride told us.
“My bouquet had peonies, dahlias, English roses, eucalyptus and olive branches, tied with hand-died silk ribbon I found in the UK”.
“We wanted the wedding to feel natural and reflect its surroundings. We therefore used olive branches, pomegranates, peaches, dahlias, rosemary branches and garden roses arranged in a unstructured manner to make the arrangements appear wild and not overly styled. I added to this other decorations I had made for the tables, such as hand-caligraphied place cards, finished with the same ribbon used in my bouquet, and table numbers painted on to Mediterranean-style tiles. I worked closely with our designer, Xristos Polyviou from Luciana Wedding Creations, to pick out votives and other decorations to complement these on the tables, the bride shared. The groom added: “The end result was beautiful – I was so proud of what Eleni and Xristos had achieved!”
“We agree that the best moment of our wedding was our entrance to the reception! We’d picked Can’t Stop the Feeling as the music to enter to and it was at that moment that all of the nerves disappeared and I felt we were both able to relax and have fun. We danced on our walk towards the DJ, Markos Kontizas, and our wedding cake and loved the energy we got from our guests. Our photos show how much fun we had!”, the groom shared.
Groom’s advice: “Grooms – the bride will stress, it’s unavoidable. Your job is to keep her sane.”
Bride’s advice: “First, pick great vendors! We had so much support from ours and truly enjoyed working with Antonis, Markos and Xristos. Second, don’t underestimate the amount of planning required for the day to run smoothly. Think about the details you feel are important to you and make sure someone remembers them on the day!”
