Emily and Derek’s dreamy wedding in Santorini has us feeling all the feels. With breathtaking views from the caldera and a custom – built flower arch designed by the talented wedding planner Nicole Bono of Bono Events International adorned in fresh white and blue blooms this couple had astonishing wedding ceremony! Emily who is an amazing footwear designer from Della Terra, was absolutely stunning with impeccable makeup and hairstyling by Michalis Tsotras, overflowing with happiness next to her love of her life. Plenty of fairy lights and white candles made the atmosphere super magical and we are still daydreaming from all the lovely details of this beautiful wedding captured by Veronica Girotti, Mama Photo. Υou must also not miss the video by Kapetankis Studios, take our word for it, it is truly breathtaking!
From Bono Events International: «Early 2021, my amazing travel partners at TRAVELLUSTRE got an email from a lovely couple from Boston interested in eloping that summer in Santorini, Greece. When Kristin Chambers, the founder of TRAVELLUSTRE first sent the request my way, I was… a bit hesitant. At the time of our first consultation borders were still closed in Greece, but nevertheless we were hopeful that we could make their dream destination elopement come true, even in the middle of a pandemic. Working with Emily and Derek was just what I needed, the most positive and hopeful couple throughout the entire process. As we began to plan together, borders started opening up, and we started to piece together everything for the perfect (Covid safe) destination wedding. All the vendors were so supportive as well as excited to be back to work! Our industry was suffering and in the dark. It was a moment of joy for everyone involved. One of the most unique things about this elopement is that the bride and groom also own a designer shoe company- Della Terra. Our lovely bride Emily is the fabulous designer behind this line of sustainable footwear (and yes I got to wear a pair to the weeding!). They not only wanted to get married in Santorini but wanted to have a product shoot for their shoe line. Being a part of their brand launch and their elopement was such an awesome experience. There were many barriers that we had to overcome to get to the point of “I do,” but eventually we got there, and in style! A great big Thank You to Derek and Emily for being so hopeful, trusting us with their special day, their brand shoot, and the honeymoon – never giving up on making their dream come true. An additional special thank you to all the vendors we were able to work with. I was so incredibly fortunate to have the support of some very exceptional industry colleagues. I am also so deeply grateful to Kristin Chambers, the founder of TRAVELLUSTRE, our Virtuoso travel partners for trusting me with this project. This Santorini destination elopement was just the come-back we needed. It was an ambitious endeavor with many challenges the pandemic threw at us, but so INCREDIBLY worth it».
Emily shared with us: «We got married in Santorini Island in summer. Derek surprised Emily with a proposal during the making of a “founder’s video” for Emily’s company, Della Terra. We were filming a spring scene on the beach at the house where we lived last summer, where I started my company, and where we decided to move to Cape Cod, a special place to us both. I was working with the video team to get the shots needed and turned around and Derek was down on one knee. He had surprised us all, including the videographer, who luckily still got it on tape. Derek said, “Emily, I want all my life’s adventures to be with you. Will you marry me?” “Although we had already discussed planning our future, I felt as though the world around me spun when I realized he was proposing. I have never been so surprised and elated,” Emily reminisced. We are so grateful and excited to celebrate these special moments, but more importantly we are looking forward to our future, spending everyday of our lives together».
«My dress was a beautifully crafted embroidered and beaded gown open-back gown with a small train. I found my dress at Vintage in Vogue Bridal in a local store near our house in Cape Cod. Although I had initially envisioned a vintage dress, what I found with Maureen and the team there was the perfect dress for me. It was originally a Mon Cherie gown, but they completely customized and reconstructed it with incredible alterations. They truly were able to create something that was perfect for the occasion and incredibly original».
«I was following Chic and Stylish Weddings when I was planning my wedding. The entire day was absolutely magical. I love that we had so much of Santorini’s raw beauty around us while celebrating our love for each other. The balcony settings were beautifully curated and a wonderful way to celebrate, but we also visited a mountaintop in our formalwear, where we watched the sunset and just spent time together as a newly married couple. This was one of the most breathtaking scenes of the day».
«The setting for our wedding ceremony was so magnificent our primary goal was not to do anything to distract from that setting. Our intimate elopement was on a private balcony at Canaves Oia in Santorini, Greece. We felt it important to use blues and white in all of the decorations, which are the colors of beautiful Santorini as well as our favorite colors. Nicole Bono curated all the decorative details and created two amazing settings. First, the ceremony scene with a beautiful archway, flowers and a string trio dressed in blue against the blue backdrop of the sky meeting the water against Santorini’s rocks. For our romantic dinner, the setting was completely transformed into a sunset scene with a beautiful white piano highlighted by twinkly lights, lots of candles and tulle».
Bride’s advice: «Make sure your wedding is exactly what you want it to be. I am so glad we eloped and were able to spend the day just the two of us. We did celebrate with our friends and family in a civil ceremony before we left for Greece, as well as a waterfront reception when we returned, but our wedding day was incredibly intimate and just for the two of us. This adventure is something we will never forget, truly memories to last a lifetime».
