From the wedding planner Golden Apple Weddings & Events: “This wedding was the most fresh and joyful of the summer season; Polyxeni and Gerard, a young couple being together since high school, decided to have a destination wedding in order to celebrate with their closest friends and family. Polyxeni’s family comes from Greece and they have spent many summer holidays there. Having a special bond with the country is what made them decide to visit it for this special day…”
“…Even if Polyxeni’s family comes from Samos Island, she wanted to visit a place she had never been before. During her research she came up to some photos of Kastellorizo and really loved the idea of a small, secluded Island on the Aegean Sea. On our first talking through Skype, meeting Poly and Gerard, we gave them a clear idea of the Island; on the eastern side of Greece, a really small and isolated land with just around 500 permanent residents was exactly what they were looking for. A tranquil scenery to enjoy the wedding days with their beloved ones.”
“The main challenge of planning a wedding in Kastellorizo is that mostly all vendors have to travel from Rhodes Island as because of its small size does not have local suppliers. During the planning process we discussed all needed arrangements and booked a group consisting of 11 suppliers to work for the beautiful day.”
“The wedding venues were chosen quickly as they loved it on the first glance! The ceremony took place on a small rocky island just next to Kastelorizo. In the yard of a picturesque whitewashed chapel Polyxeni and Gerard exchanged vows of eternal love. All the guests traveled there by a traditional fishing boat and shared exciting moments during that small trip! Alexandra’s Restaurant hosted the wedding dinner. Polyxeni wrote the story of choosing that place, behind the printed menus.”
“A long table for the 25 guests were located on the edge of the water offering great views to the sea and port of Kastellorizo. The bride was very clear and specific on her vision as concerns the style; greeneries! A combination of a rustic yet chic styled wedding by using her favorite greeneries.. Eucalyptus! During the decoration analysis we discussed in detail the way of presenting all elements and enjoyed very much all the conversations with Polyxeni laughing together.”
“One moment we will always remember is talking to her while being outside during the night cutting greeneries from houses’ gardens in order to make samples for the flower synthesis! The wedding dinner was a night full of emotions. Happy tears during the families’ speeches, lot of food, drinks and dancing with the highlight when all men dove with their clothes into the sea drifting with them the restaurant’s manager!”
From the bride: “FOR THE LOVE OF FOOD. Our love of food is beyond measure. We had to find somewhere to celebrate that was truly authentic, local and above all abundantly delicious and then our planners talked about Alexandra’s Restaurant. A family run restaurant, Mihalis the owner and his mother the cook. Seafood is locally caught, olive oil from the families olive trees in Rhodes, oregano and thyme found wild on the island and a small herb and vegetable garden supplies the restaurant. I am sure we have picked most of the menu in the hope that each of you taste something you love.”
