Today, we’re sharing with you a very beautiful wedding that stole our hearts! Our current couple made their wonderful wedding in Santorini, in one of the dreamiest islands for couples in love. The ceremony venue was decorated with an impressive arch full of fresh flowers in orange and fuchsia hues that made the place even more prettier. What to say about the bride, who was shining in her airy romantic wedding dress which was the perfect choice for an island wedding like this one! Enjoy every moment of this wonderful wedding through the pictures below!
From the bride: “Hunter and I met at a little beach bar in Venice Beach, California. One of my friend’s bands was performing so I went to the bar alone. Hunter lived nearby and had been at the bar by himself for quite some time. When I walked in, Hunter walked right up to me and said “I need to know you.”
“When I came home from work one day, Hunter had used his key to put flowers and champagne in my apartment, along with a note about how much he loved me. Inside the note was the scrap of paper that had my phone number written on it from the day we met, 3 years before. I thought that would be when he asked but I realized I was alone in my apartment. So I just thought it was a really sweet thing for him to have done. Later that evening, Hunter said he was coming over for dinner. I went about my usual evening. He text me to come open the door because his hands were full as he was walking up the stairs. I opened the door to tons of candles, more flower and champagne and Hunter told me again how happy he was to be with me and about his hopes for our future and asked me to marry him with his great grandmother’s engagement ring.”
“We had planned a big European adventure, traveling for a month. We were going to Tuscany, Athens, Crete, Santorini, Barcelona, Edinburgh and London. Hunter had seen beautiful photos of Santorini and got it in his head that this was the place for us to become husband and wife. I was just so excited to get married I would have said yes to anywhere. I feel very lucky that he picked such an amazing place. Our photographs are breathtaking and take us back to that incredible day.”
“My wedding dress was… light. That was the most important thing to me, that it was easy to carry around Europe. I didn’t spend a ton of money on it. I went downtown in Los Angeles to the fashion district and bought something off the rack.”
“The ceremony took place in Santorini. We both have big families and lots of friends. When we first sat down to plan out our big day we realized we were looking at 200+ guests. After thinking about how crazy that big day would be, we came to the decision to just elope. It took a lot of planning on our part as we were leaving for Europe in just 3 weeks! I had a lot of sleepless nights getting in touch with our wedding planner, Maria at Tie the Knot since her work hours were in the middle of the night for me. It was totally worth every lost hour of sleep!”
“The best moment of our wedding was during our kiss at the end of the ceremony. Maria threw flower petals in the air. I didn’t know she was going to do that. So in the moment it just felt really magical.”
“Our wedding concept was just romance. It was more influenced by our colors than a real theme. We chose hot pink, light pink, coral, orange and pops of teal. Our flowers were amazing! I knew I wanted wild roses, peonies, and ranunculus. Everything else was chosen by our wonderful florist at Betty Flowers – Santorini. I had a pretty specific vision for our arch and my flower crown and she really surpassed what I thought I wanted. It was so incredible.”
“On such short notice for preparation I relied heavily on Pinterest. Maria had a great document she provides all her brides with that really helps navigate exactly how you want your wedding to be styled. Between those two resources, I was able to really get specific about exactly what I wanted on our day.”
“For any bride that is planning her wedding now I would say remember the day is about you and your husband. Don’t plan things to make your relatives or family happy. Chose the details for you and your husband – it’s your marriage after all.”
