The destination wedding we are sharing today is so beautiful; from the pastel colored flowers used for the bridal bouquet and the decoration to the candles and blush wedding stationary, everything was gorgeous! Despite the rain during the ceremony, the lovely couple exchange their vows and had the most amazing day!
“We met in November 2005 whilst I was studying at Liverpool University. Sean was my housemate’s (Amy’s) boyfriend’s (Simon’s) brother (that’s a mouthful!) who came to visit for a night out. You could say it was love at first sight, but he left without even asking for my number. A few days later he managed to get in touch and ask me out on our first date. Almost 10 years on we tied the knot… Simon & Amy are also married!”
“My favorite holiday is most definitely Christmas, so on Christmas morning of 2013 we ran down to exchange Christmas presents that were gathered under our Christmas tree. Just as I began to clean up the mess of the wrapping paper, Sean asked me who the bottle of wine was from that was stashed right at the back under the tree. As I retrieved the bottle to read the gift tag, it said “to my fiancée”. I turned and Sean was down on one knee with the most beautifully unique engagement ring I had ever seen. I’m not sure I quite managed to say “Yes” through all the tears (I had been waiting 8 years!), but I think Sean knew the answer anyway.”
“The ceremony took place in the gardens of our favorite hotel in the world “The Achtis” in Afitos”
“Sean and I have visited this village for many years and fell in love from the very first day we arrived. The owners of the hotel (and their wonderful staff) feel like family and truly make it a home away from home. The gardens are so well kept and truly feel like your own private Oasis. The village of Afitos retains true Greek charm, the people are so friendly and the food, drinks and overall setting are out of this world. We have made such good friends with many of the locals that we invited them to our wedding! We couldn’t think of a more perfect place for us to get married and share this beautiful place with our closest friends and family.”
“I walked into the bridal boutique (agape bridal) and saw the dress hanging on the end of the rail, I immediately felt drawn to it and tried it on first. I knew instantly it was the dress I would wear when I walked down the aisle to meet Sean. The dress was called “Kaitlyn” by Alice Temperley, I teamed it with a simple halo by “Laura Donovan” and a pair of Jimmy Choo wedges”
“I just wanted to create a relaxed and informal wedding day and let the location speak for itself. My wedding planner from Concept Events totally understood and we used pastel colored flowers and décor which would not detract from the garden or the beach (where we held our wedding reception). Atsunset, I wanted hundreds of candles to create a romantic ambiance. “
“Things don’t always go to plan. We were in Greece for an entire week, the sun shone for 7 days except for the one hour window of our outdoor ceremony. It really didn’t matter. We got married under an umbrella in the rain (and our guests got wet!), but ultimately, we got married and that is all I have ever wanted! Our wedding planner was amazing, our whole wedding reception was set up indoors due to the poor weather, but as soon as the sun began to shine again she had the whole set up moved to its outdoor location… I would highly recommend to any bride that a wedding planner is an absolute must! I speak very little Greek, so to arrange every last detail would have been very difficult. Marina took all the stress away from me, so I could really enjoy my day… and I can safely say we did!”
“For the wedding decoration we had candles, soft colored flowers and blush wedding stationery. We wanted the setting to really shine”.
“I found inspiration and ideas while planning my wedding from Pinterest, blogs & magazines”.
“The best moment of your wedding was walking down the aisle (in the rain) to meet my husband! That and when the dolphins swam past at sunset!”
