Today we’re sharing with you a gorgeous wedding in Kefalonia, Greece. Emma and Alexander get married in a beautiful, greenery scenery full of vibrant colors. The sea and the nature create the perfect background for a fairytale wedding like this. The ceremony was decorated with gold chairs adorned with small flower bouquets in baby pink and baby blue colors, a wooden arch with tulle and flowers and many petals that created a path for the couple. What to say about the pink wedding cake with gold details, white flowers and a white lace design. So impressive and unique!
“We met when we were very young, I was 17 and Alex was 18. We met trough mutual friends”, the bride shared with us.
“Since we have been together for a very long time and we were happy with our life that we had built we never felt any rush to get married. So when Alex proposed I was very surprised. I had a short day in school and was on my way home. Alex kept calling me asking where I were and when I would be home. I thought that it was strange because he usually don´t call me that often and especially not in one day. When I came home he open up the door with the biggest bouquet of red roses that I ever seen. My first reaction was that something was wrong. He often buys me flowers but more on special occasions and never in this size. He asked me to come with him and sit down because he wanted my opinion on something. I still had no idea what was about to happen, I remember that I thought that maybe he wanted quit his job or that he had gotten a offer about something that he really wanted to do. But then as I sat down he started to talk about us and how much I meant to him I understood right away that he was about to propose. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. When I think back on it I get tearful because it was one of the happiest moment I have shared with him. And he managed to keep the secret from me, and that’s not easy…”
“The ceremony took place in Trapezaki on the beautiful island of Kefalonia. As soon as Alex had proposed we started to talk about the wedding. We wanted to get married as soon as possible. Since we got engaged in January we knew it would be to close on to get married that summer so we decided to get married next summer.”
“Alex’s grandparents live in Kefalonia, so we decided right away that we wanted to get married there, we didn’t want a traditional Swedish wedding. So it was never a question for us to get married in Kefalonia it was more a question on where in Kefalonia we should get married… That summer we went to Kefalonia on holiday and we looked on the internet and Instagram and we found Cleopatra. We contacted her and then the preparations began. She was the one who suggested Villa Rosa and we are so happy she did.”
“We had a spectacular flower arch at the ceremony, and rose petals spread along the isle. My absolute favorite flower is peonies. So I had a bouquet with white peonies., some small pink flowers and blue and some green to frame the bouquet.”
“We always felt that the wedding was not only for us but for all of our friends and family. And by that I mean that we wanted our guests to have a memory for life. So we were very focused on the food, drinks and party. We wanted clean colors, lots of candles and flowers. Our colors were rose quarts, blue and white.”
“I wanted a flowy wedding dress since we were getting married in Greece in the most beautiful surroundings. My dress was in chiffon and had a dramatic open back. I had it sown in a wedding store in Sweden.”
“It’s impossible to single out one moment in such a special day. If we were to do it all over again we wouldn’t have changed a single thing, it was the best day in our lives. But if I have to choose one moment it was walking down the isle and seeing all of our friends and family that had flown from Sweden just to be with us on our wedding day. You have planned for so long and even if you think you know how you are going to feel you have no idea. It´s just an incredible feeling to see everybody you love in the same place celebration our love to each other.”
“My biggest inspiration was from Pinterest, you can find anything there. And it is a great way to show your style and what you like. Since we only met Cleopatra and her team two times before the wedding week it was very important that she got an idea of how our dream wedding should look. I sent Cleopatra a few pictures and then she came with lots of ideas of how we should do the style of the wedding and suggestions. So I would say that my inspiration was Cleopatra and Pinterest.”
“On the tables we had a vase with bouquets and lots of candles. Alongside one of the walls by the dinner tables we had all candles in different sizes, that was magical by the evening.”
The bride’s advice: “If you have help to plan your wedding, be very specific with what you want and desire. Then it’s easier for your wedding planner and you get exactly what you have dreamed of. Think about what is most important to you, is it the party? the food? then you can spend more money on the things that matter to you and save in on the things you don’t think are that important. My biggest advice is on the wedding day. Let everything go and enjoy the day, it will go by so fast so you should cherish every moment. Let everybody take care of you and don’t focus on anybody but yourselves.”
