Mykonos is a beautiful island with amazing locations and a perfect place to have a destination wedding! Having this in mind, Krys and Ted invited friends and family to Mykonos to exchange their vows at an amazing location which was kept a secret! Mykonos beauty inspired the wedding decoration; they kept things simple – white, green, with touches of blue were the colors used! Have a look at their amazing day and we will be smitten!
“Ted and I met online dating. The truth is, I went on 36 first dates, ranging from raging alcoholics, to creepy cat people. So, when I received a message from “TeddyD143”, I was initially unimpressed. But after seeing that 4 of his 7 profile pictures were solo shots of Duke, I knew this guy was my cup of tea. And so, we met. Cocktails turned to dinner, dinner turned to bar hopping, and bar hopping turned into making out in the front seat of my Hyundai. The next morning, I called him bright and early and boldly asked when he’d be free to hang again and he said “I know I’m not supposed to say this but, I really like you… So you let me know when you’re free, and I’ll make myself available.” Well, 4 years later, and I’m still “available” to him!” the bride shared.
“We wanted our guests to experience all of the wonderful views of Mykonos. We picked our ceremony venue because it offered a unique and incredible view of the city and ocean. We wanted a wow moment, and we kept this location a complete secret to our guests! For the reception, we wanted a chill vibe that allowed us to eat, drink, and dance all night. Alemagoun was the perfect beach restaurant for this”.
“Laura, our wedding planner, handled everything from start to finish, and not just the wedding day event, she planned everything the welcome reception, private yacht charter, and rehearsal dinner events. She joined us in Mykonos and was our personal concierge for us and all our guests for the entire weekend. This put us at ease, so we could really enjoy the weekend with our friends and family, and we didn’t have to worry about the logistics or surprises. Laura handled it all. As you can imagine, planning from Los Angeles for an event across the world is not easy, but Laura took off most of the burden and handled researching, making calls, collecting quotes, and negotiating.”
“Being so far away, it is hard to get to know your vendors and get a great understanding of their personalities and what it will actually feel like on the day of the wedding. We did Skype calls with many, but until we were there in person, it was hard to know exactly what we were getting. Luckily, everyone exceeded our expectations. They went above and beyond, providing five-start service to each one of us, but I was a little nervous leading up to the big weekend!”
“We drew inspiration from Mykonos beauty keeping things simple – white, green, with touches of blue. The view spoke for itself, so we did not need to add much décor to the venue. For the reception venue we had garlands with white floral and the florist hung candles from the ceiling to add to the ambiance. We served a beautiful Greek meal, family style and we had signature cocktails named after our dogs Duke and Murphy. We kept the fun going all night – it was full of surprises. We had live musicians for cocktail hour, DJ for dinner and dancing, a surprise live drummer that we flew in from the UK, and also a firework show after dinner. We also invited a local winemaker to join us and teach us authentic Greek dancing. Our wedding cake was a classic white cake with greenery, plus a groom’s cake with his favorite baseball team”.
Bride’s advice: “Do what’s right for you and your fiancé – even if it’s a little off beat than what is expected. And don’t be afraid to take risks! Trying new things and pushing the envelope can lead to new adventures you get to share with your best friends and family”.
