A Greek island is always a good idea for a summer destination wedding and today’s couple travels us to the beautiful island of Corfu! The half Greek bride always wanted to get married in Greece and with her beloved choose Corfu with its idyllic sceneries to have a romantic wedding with gorgeous lush blooms and lots of greenery. The ceremony took place in a lovely white church with a backdrop of the blue sea and the natural beauty of the island. We absolutely loved the wedding decoration in white and green hues that took place in a luxurious villa in the heart of nature. The wedding reception was decorated with impressive white flower garlands and arrangements combined with natural greenery, silver details, candles and fairy lights which made this scenery even more like a fairytale! The bride was stunning in her silk A-line gown with a deep V in the back and straps which matched perfectly with a long romantic veil…so beautiful and chic. Enjoy this amazing summer wedding through the follow photos and feel completely transported to this dreamy location!
The bride shared with us: “We met in the Civil Defence force as volunteer fire fighters when we were 16 years old in Ireland where we became friends for a year before we went on a date. We were together on and off for over 10 years before we got engaged. Mark took me to my favourite spot on the coastal walk near our house in Co Galway, we were walking our labrador Elsa when he got down on one knee.”
“I’m half Greek myself and had always wanted to get married in Greece and brought Mark to different destinations in Greece for holidays over the years. We had holidayed in Corfu a number of years before the wedding and saw a couple having wedding photos taken in Corfu old town and thought it was beautiful and we joked that maybe we could come back in a few years for our own wedding. We had been to a wedding in Italy a few years after that and we loved the experience of a destination wedding decided, we loved the thought of having all of our friends and family together on a holiday of a lifetime. We decided after we got engaged to start investigation options to have a destination wedding ourselves and we loved Corfu, it was easily accessible for family to travel and we and fell in love with this church as soon as we saw it.”
“My bouquet was a mixture of wild and cultivated flowers in pale blues and white with natural greenery.”
“I wore a Justin Alexander white silk A-line gown with a deep V in the back, skinny straps and full skirt. It was comfortable despite the large skirt and I was able to dance and move around really well which was great. Silk Dupion A-Line with Deep V-Back and V-Neckline – Style 8927”
“The ceremony took place in Ypapanti Church, Kommeno, Corfu, Greece.”
“Our wedding was simple but traditional. I wanted to keep things classy so we went with a classic pale dusty blue and white color scheme with greenery. I wanted a hint of the traditional Greek colors without overpowering everything, as our ceremony and party afterwards were all outdoors we needed our color combinations to be versatile and they really complimented our beautiful church on the water and the stunning summery weather which really originally inspired the décor.”
“There were blue and white flowers at the church and reception with and pale blue accents on the tables, at night we had lots of candles and lights around the venue but not too much because the original setting was so lovely we didn’t want to spoil the lovely natural views or atmosphere.”
“The best moment of my wedding was arriving at the party on a speedboat after the ceremony and photographs were finished to see all of our friends and family waiting for us and cheering.”
“…I researched a number of weddings on Chic and Stylish Weddings before we booked our own.”
“My advise to a bride-to-be is to give herself lots of time to plan in advance, to ask lots of questions and to shop around and see locations and meet vendors before you decide where to have it. Try not to stress!”
