“We got married in the summer. The church was taken place in Arkadia and reception in Messinia. We met through a mutual connection. Theofani reached out to me on Facebook and the rest is history. Theofani proposed to me in Santorini the summer of 2020. It was beautiful because the island was quiet from it usual tourism because of covid restrictions”, the bride shared with us.
“I loved my wedding dress. I only went to one store tried on a few dresses that all looked the same as the one before and nothing stuck out to me. Then we asked to see dresses from a specific brand named Berta. The second I tried on this dress, everyone’s faces told me it was the one. It fit me like a glove and I felt like what a bride should feel in it. It was different too than what you usually see. I didn’t want something simple because you’re only a bride once”.
“I really wanted everything to be very romantic with soft pinks and white. I was really looking for that fairytale wedding we all dream of. I chose some of my favorite flowers that were used everywhere including my bouquet. This included roses, hydrangeas, and orchids. I also really wanted peonies, but they weren’t in season so my wedding planner suggested we use David Austin roses as well which are really similar! Those were beautiful too. We kept the same flowers in my bouquet but kept completely white. The area we focused our decorations on at the church were the stairs. There are so many stairs leading up to the church so we knew it would be beautiful to line either side with flowers and candles. It created that “wow” factor when you arrived at the church. I also wanted to include refreshments since on a usual August day in Greece is very warm. So we had a table with water and lemonade plus some hand fans to help keep all our guests cool! The venue Ktima Lygeri was so beautiful in itself and already created that romantic atmosphere that we didn’t need to do too much! All the tables had tall centerpieces with some long tables that had long center pieces instead of round. We included candles that hung from the centerpieces to add to the romance. My favorite decoration at the church was the stairs and at the ceremony it was our sweetheart table”.
“We both got married where each of our families are from. My mother’s village is Nestani and where I spent all my summers growing up. So we did the church there, so I could leave our house in the village a bride and have everyone walk with us to the church. That is also why I did the horse and carriage to carry old village wedding traditions, which was so beautiful. Theofanis’ father’s village is Arfara, so that is another reason why we chose to do the reception at Ktima Lygeri since it’s in the neighboring village. Originally, our wedding was supposed to happen 8.20.21 but we cancelled because I lost my father suddenly only a month before. That was the only thing that was missing at my wedding this past summer”.
“My favorite moment of the wedding was the fireworks from our first dance! It was a moment that we enjoyed and so did all of our guests!”
Bride’s advice: “Don’t sweat the small stuff. I found myself getting upset over the smallest details but the reality is no one notices that but you. The most important thing is to be in the moment and enjoy your day together and everyone who is there to celebrate you”.
