“We got married in summer in Mykonos Island. We met in bar called Bunga Bunga, in Battersea, London back in 2013, over a shot of Sambuca! After 6 years of dating and in the middle of a USA road trip, Mark proposed to me in my favourite place in the world- Las Vegas, in front of the Bellagio fountains. It was a night we will never forget, where we celebrated with friends who had flown out to meet us especially for it. We decided to get married in Mykonos as we had fallen in love with the island when Mark had taken me there for my 30th birthday. Although the wedding had to be postponed by a year due to the pandemic, we finally had the day of our dreams in June 2021”, the bride shared with us.
“I bought my dress from a shop in the UK which featured on a TV show called ‘Say Yes to the Dress’. It was a low back and low cut A line dress, which had a stunning train. The details of the dress included intricate pearl beading on the straps, as well as tiny jewels in the train which sparkled in the sun while I walked up the aisle. My accessories included Jimmy Choo heels, and a waterfall style veil. I felt like a princess for the day”.
“We wanted our wedding decor to reflect both the colour picks in our invitations but also the venue and the Myconian style. White was the main colour we went for as it is both understated but also extremely elegant. My bouquet was made up of white hydrangeas, white peonies, peach and white roses; while the bridesmaids bouquets were simply white peonies with olive leaves. I am a massive fan of pampas grass so this featured along the aisle with a base of white roses and gypsophila. We had an incredible flower arch over the doorway of the chapel which was made up of white hydrangeas, white roses and mini pampas grass. This arch was then taken apart and draped over the top table which looked absolutely stunning! In keeping with the theme the guests tables were decorated with 5 different sized vases, filled with white peonies, white hydrangeas and white roses”.
“I was following Chic and Stylish Weddings and it was great to get ideas of decor from other couples that had also got married abroad. Mark also took inspiration from Chic and Stylish Weddings as to what him and his groomsmen were going to wear, especially with getting married in Greece in the summer season, he wanted to make sure he looked smart but also not feel too hot or overdressed!”
“It might sound cliché but walking down that aisle and finally getting married after having to postpone due to Covid. It was the most magical moment and we got to spend it with the most special people. Oh and of course our first dance where we had ground fireworks go off around us, which were spectacular!”
Bride’s advice: “Definitely get a wedding planner! We wish we had got one because although we were super organised and did everything ourselves, it would have been a lot less stressful the morning of the wedding if we had a wedding planner sorting all the last-minute details and the timings of the day”.
