Today we’ re bringing you this beautiful destination wedding in Greece that you’re definitely going to be obsessed with! Jane and Gilmour choose to spend their special day in beautiful Santorini, overlooking the breathtaking caldera views. Santorini My Wedding created a romantic arch for the couple’s ceremony decorated with fabulous florals in pastel tones while Spicy Bites Catering selected tasty gastronomic dishes and Illuminography added fantastic large illuminating letters with the name of the couple. “This was the first thing guests would see upon entering the venue and before their eyes fell upon the beautiful view that lay ahead”, Jane shared with us, as Eva Rendl Photography made sure to capture the love of this gorgeous couple so beautifully!

“We got married in summer in Santorini. Things swiftly began after meeting for the first time in Woburn Sands, Buckinghamshire in June 2019. We bonded over our shared faith, a common love for travelling, food, dogs and the great outdoors amongst other things… Gilmour planned to propose to Jane whilst in Budapest however Jane’s need to help with packing got in the way and meant that Gilmour had to hide the ring and forgot to re-pack it before leaving. Gilmour then intended to propose to Jane at her favorite place in Northern Ireland, Mussenden Temple overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, however Covid had other plans which prevented this from coming to fruition. Gilmour was determined to propose one way or the other. During a daily, scenic walk on Easter Sunday, 12th April 2020 at Rushmere Country Park, Gilmour got down on one knee and asked Jane to be his wife. Well, Jane said “yes” and there was now a need for a wedding and a wedding planner to help us organise our big day. Jane had spent many holidays in Greece and fell in love with Santorini when visiting it for the first time in 2017. Jane grew up by the sea and with this close to her heart, there was no better choice than to choose to get married by the impressive caldera of the Aegean Sea”, Jane shared with us.
“We know that first impressions are important and so we chose to have our name lit up in lights with ‘Mr and Mrs Machado’. This was the first thing guests would see upon entering the venue and before their eyes fell upon the beautiful view that lay ahead. We sourced these from Illuminography. Additionally, we chose to have many candles dotted throughout the venue to add some soft lighting and ambiance in the evening. We chose the picture frame wedding arch for our ceremony because we thought this would frame the beautiful, expansive backdrop of the caldera so well which we wanted to be our main focal point. We wanted the flowers to feel minimalistic, soft and natural, so we decided to have subtle blush, white and cream flowers to compliment the light and airy pictures that our photographer is known for capturing. We also did not want the flowers to detract from the natural beauty of the scenery. Our favorite decoration was the blanket of lights that overhung our reception dining area provided by Multimedia. This made our chosen wedding venue overlooking the caldera stand out in the late evening. We chose sparklers with the caption ‘Let love sparkle, light the way for Jane and Gilmour’ as a decoration for guests to use later when we hit the dance floor. Following our first dance we had a wonderful show of fireworks to mark the occasion, and which was enjoyed by everyone”.
“I wanted my wedding dress to be an elegant gown that was feminine with an elegant silhouette that combined effortless styling with natural beauty. I chose my gown from Heidi Hudson’s platinum collection. The detailing in the bodice part of the dress was exquisite. The lightweight fabric of the bottom of the dress created an effortless flow of the dress in the Santorini wind which made quite a statement and was the perfect whimsical destination wedding gown for me”.
“We loved every moment of our wedding. It is hard to pick just one favorite moment. However, exchanging our vows was incredibly special and getting to share this with our loved ones. We especially enjoyed going to the village of Megalochori, Santorini for our couple shoot in the 1957 Porche Speedster 356. Eva and Vasilis were able to capture some stunning images by the beautiful churches, church bells and the golden hour by the caldera. We found it really helpful to have Santorini My Wedding as our planner who was able to provide us with a list of suppliers from which we were able to select our favorite suppliers. Create an excel spreadsheet of the various aspects of your wedding to include costs. This will help you budget. Our excel spreadsheet contained everything from the cost for the venue to the wedding favors. Once you have a spreadsheet, you can send it to the planner for them to arrange and contact the different suppliers”.
