AK Weddings shared with us: “Jasna and Matic are a warm, loving couple and their wedding day really represented all the important things for them: beautiful design, great food and loving people surrounding them. Their first idea was to get married in Tuscany, Italy, but they quickly changed their mind once they saw the city of Štanjel in Slovenia. This tiny stone village makes you want to get lost in the tiny streets, and at the same time offers fantastic views over the Karst region.”
“They trusted all the planning and decoration to AK Weddings, who do a lot of weddings in the area and also abroad. The bride and groom love vintage and elegant things, so that was the main theme behind the outfits, decoration and flowers. Jasna picked a beautiful wedding dress at eNVY room in Zagreb, Croatia, and matched the vintage lace feel of the dress with the iconic blue shoes from Manolo Blahnik, but a flat version (no heels), so she could feel as comfortable as possible throughout the whole day. The groom’s attire is from Ted Baker London.”
“They started their day with getting ready at the nearby Hotel St. Daniel, and continued with a church ceremony at an old church of St. Anton near village of Sepulje. This church is located in the middle of the forest and it’s hard to get to, but it was such a unique and mystical place, it drew the couple immediately. After the ceremony everyone made their way to town of Stanjel and into The Ferrari Garden, where a civil ceremony was held. It’s very common in Slovenia to have both ceremonies at the same day, if the couple is religious.”
“During the coctail hour at the garden, guests enjoyed local cuisine, lots of fresh fruit and healthy, fruit and coffee popsicles by La Popsi. After the sunset, the dinner was held at the Stanjel Castle, where guest enjoyed the great food and music from a famous Slovenian singer Nusa Derenda. At midnight (which is a tradition in Slovenia), the couple cut one of their 4 cakes (one was vegan, because the bride is vegan) and later enjoyed all night with their family and friends.”
The bride shared with us: “We knew, that we wanted a simple, family touched, relaxed wedding. We wanted this romantic-chic-elegant style. At first we wanted to get married in Tuscany, which we love so much. But planning a wedding there seemed a bit overwhelming and when we saw Stanjel, we fell in love. The planning of the wedding was very relaxed, we made sure we didn’t complicate to much. We got AK Weddings to help us out with the details of the day and do the styling. We wanted a rustic feel, with asymmetrical shapes and natural feel. I wanted a lot of eucalyptus and almost no roses.”
“My favourite part of the day was when my dad took my hand outside the church and the singers start to sing “You Raise Me Up”, the door opened, and we went down the altar. All I saw, was Matic. I started to shake, I just couldn’t take it all in, that this was happening. Matic later told me his favourite moment was when the doors opened and he was me stepping into the church.”
