We just can’t seem to stop daydreaming about this gorgeous Galia Lahav wedding dress that bride Ariana chose to wear for her destination wedding in Greece. The stunning ballgown dress featured a multilayered tulle skirt in ice blue and a sheer corset with off the shoulder details. The bride shared with us: ““I’ve always wanted a blue wedding dress – so when my sister spotted Galia Lahav’s Cinderella dress I knew I had to try it on. It was the first dress I tried on… fell in love with it immediately and ordered it that day!”
“I met my husband Nate through our good friend. She was a hostess at a restaurant and he was the chef. We both expressed interest for each other to our friend and he asked me out soon after. Our first date was one of the best dates I’ve ever been on. He took me to a Lee Fields concert and the night was filled with amazing music, drinks, dancing and of course a kiss. He was the one”.
“We were driving upstate New York for the weekend and Nate kept mentioning that he felt like there was something wrong with the car. I brushed it off. A few minutes later he decides to suddenly pull over. He gets out and looks around at the tires. He then opens my door and asks me to check the glove compartment. I look at him in complete confusion but open it anyway. There I find fresh flowers and a card that says “Marry Me?” I look over and there he is on one knee with the ring. I was completely surprised. We celebrated with champagne and an amazing weekend away”.
“Our ceremony was held on a tiny island connected by a causeway in Gytheio, Greece, which bares my family’s name. At the center of the island is a castle known as the Janetakis Tower (where a lot of our photos were taken), which is now the Historical and Ethnological museum of Mani. According to Greek Mythology it is the tower where Helen of Sparta and Paris of Troy spent their first romantic night together. It was beyond special to have our wedding here especially with our family and friends”.
“The last time Nate and I visited Greece we spent time in Gytheio and absolutely loved it and with my family history -Gytheio seemed like the perfect place for our special day. I really wanted to utilize the resources available in the region of Mani while also adding touches of blues, greens, purples and whites. The sea was definitely an inspiration as well”.
“For inspiration I mainly used Pinterest to get inspired when planning the look and vibe I was going for”.
“I think the best moment of our wedding was the ceremony. The weather was just right and it was completely surreal to see all of our friends and family standing with us in Greece during this special time…”
“Being that I planned the wedding from NY I really put the decor of our wedding in the hands of our amazing wedding planners. It was simple but done so well. Think Happy Events accomplished the look we wanted while also keeping within our budget. The dessert table was such a statement and my favorite- The planners created this beautiful mural inspired by the ocean”.
The bride’s advice:“Cherish every moment. Don’t sweat the small or big stuff – in the end it’s about you and your love”.
