Anastasia and Notis choose to get married in the romantic island of Naxos with a splendid view of Aegean’s crystal waters at the background. The beautiful couple had their wedding during the summer, surrounded by their family and friends who came from London especially for the big day. White candles and roses with pampas grass set an idyllic scene that will surely impress you! Through the photos below you can enjoy every moment of that special day!
The bride shared with us: «We had a summer wedding in the beautiful island of Naxos. We have known each other for many years, but we started dating in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2012. Even after we moved to the UK in 2015, we knew that Greece would always be the destination for our summer vacations. We love traveling to new places and exploring the world together, so our plan was to travel to a different Greek island every summer, until we find the one we love the most. Naxos was our summer destination in 2018 and we immediately fell in love with the place! From the beautiful beaches to the picturesque towns in the heart of the island, it became our happy place straight away. This gave us the idea that it couldn’t be more romantic than to get married there on the beach…so we started planning! After we had booked our venue in Naxos, Notis had booked for an appointment with a ring designer in London for us to design my ring from scratch together».
«I already knew the style of the wedding dress I was looking for before booking appointments in some bridal boutiques in Athens, however I decided to try on a few different styles as well, just to see what looks good on me. For me, it was essential to find a dress with a light and good quality fabric, as Greece is very warm in the middle of August and wanted to be able to dance in it all night. When I found the one that ticked all the boxes, I didn’t book it right away, as I wanted to try some more in London, too. In London, I found that most styles of dresses where quite heavy beaded and thicker fabrics were used, which would not be ideal for a beach wedding. So, I contacted the bridal boutique in Athens and booked the one I had liked the most through email. I was incredibly lucky to have done this dress shopping quite early in the planning as, because of covid, I managed to do a dress fitting only a week before the wedding and my dress was ready within a day. As I said, having good communication with your vendors is vital and will make your planning much more relaxed».
«My sister suggested to me the wedding blog Chic and Stylish Weddings for inspiration. Looking at many ideas for beach wedding flower arrangements, we both felt that pampas grass was very appropriate for the beach ceremony we had in mind, matching the beige of the sand. Thus, we designed our decoration, wedding invitations and clothes to match the style. My flower bouquet included white roses, olive branches, eucalyptus and jasmine».
«I was following the wedding blog Chic and Stylish Weddings for my wedding planning. From the very first moment we decided to get married in Naxos, we started looking for vendors and ideas through Chic and Stylish Weddings. When planning a destination wedding, I would recommend you have a look at the vendors you want to use through their work with other weddings, as this will help you understand their style and quality of service. Our venue, Banana Beach Bar, was one of the venues we found through Chic and Stylish Weddings. When we next visited Naxos the following summer, we loved the atmosphere of the venue and the location was ideal for what we wanted…a beautiful spot to get married on the beach close to a chic and elegant beach bar where we could have the beach party for our reception».
«I remember my heart beating so fast walking down the aisle with the biggest smile on my face from excitement and Notis getting emotional looking at me, trying to hold back his tears. It’s a moment we’ll treasure forever, it’s just magical…».
Bride’s Advice: «My advice for future brides planning a destination wedding would be to start planning as early as they can. We started planning 2 years ago and had already booked our venue and my wedding dress a year before the wedding. Our plan was to visit Greece once more before August to meet with the other vendors too, but we couldn’t due to Covid restrictions. Even if you cannot meet in person with your vendors, keep in touch with them through video calls and emails. This had made planning enormously easier for us and reassured us for what to expect on the day. Also, for the future bride and groom planning their wedding, we would say don’t be afraid to be unconventional…we decided to have a macaron tower, instead of a wedding cake, we had our first dance privately only with the photographer and the videographer, I didn’t throw a bouquet and we spent the morning of the wedding together swimming in the pool of our suite. It is your wedding so it should have what makes you happy and your own style».
