“We got married in summer in Sifnos Island. Peter and I met back in 2011, we were both a shy of 20 years old at the time. My childhood best friend whom I danced with and attended afternoon Greek school program with was close friends with Peter since they shared the same circle of friends. One day I approached her after seeing her Facebook profile picture and asked her to introduce me to that handsome guy in her picture (little did I know that handsome man would become my husband!) . Long and behold, we planned a girl’s night and made our first stop at a café, where Peter worked as a barista. Once his shift was over, Peter took all the ladies out for drinks at a bar in the city, while all his other male friends bailed. I knew in that moment that this was rare, Peter remained a gentleman and despite his friends backing out, this didn’t stop him from showing us a good time. That night we connected and danced the night away, however there were no exchanges of phone numbers and he went MIA. He became a thought of the past since he did not attempt to pursue me or reach out. Fast forward 4 months later, Peter unexpectedly showed up to my College dance performance and on my way out we crossed paths, greeted each other but according to Peter, I was cold and brushed him off quickly! That summer, we both linked up at mutual friend’s party and after a long conversation over drinks, he FINALLY asked me for my number and on our very first date. The rest was history, we were soulmates and Peter knew he would marry me even at 20 years old. After 7 years of dating, Peter proposed on December 21st, 2018. That night he proposed I had planned a cocktail Christmas Party and invited my closest friend and family members to our home. He somehow managed to trick me since I always used to always tell him not to propose to me on a date when other events were planned, but this was the perfect SURPRISE, we got to celebrate our engagement with lots of happiness and love with our most loved ones surrounding us”, Cindy shared with us.
“My wedding dress was fit to flare with an ivory deep plunge neckline with beaded sparkled/pearl embellishments. Attached were floral applique and the long trail had layers of detailed tulle/lace. My dress had the perfect amount of sparkle and the open back feature was perfect for a dreamy summer wedding look!”
“Our wedding theme was Mediterranean chic. Our floral arrangement concept was white/green with a touch of pastel pink and light peach floral arrangements paired with gold finishing touches. At the venue, we had a floral photobooth arch mixed with hints of greenery and white to tie in with our theme. Our centerpieces included low set and high set arrangements on a gold metal frame elegant with white flowers and greenery. At the pergola during cocktail hour, we had hanging wisteria and greenery to create a simplistic yet elegant atmosphere. The ambiance of the natural scenery alone at both our church Chrisopigi and venue Lazarou Beach, allowed for simplistic decoration since the backdrop was beautiful in itself. Therefore, we chose neutral colors and the key element of our wedding was in the lighting and entertainment set up. At the church, we had two beautiful candle pillars (lambades) with white and olive green floral wreaths. We also had the same flowers attached to the mirrors of the classic Rolls Royce that brought the bride and parents to the church”.
“The wedding reception at Lazarou beach had the most beautiful decor and had everyone talking about it. Lazarou beach is unique because it is a deck on the water surrounded by nothing by mountain and rocks. It feels very private and you cannot even see Platis Gialos from the deck because it is hidden by rocks. Our Dj, George Misirlis, is a lighting specialist. He hung fairy lights in a criss-cross pattern from the top rail of the pergola down to the deck. He also placed spotlights and ambient lights facing the rocks and the mountains to illuminate the beauty of the surrounding space. He also had a large illuminated “JUST MARRIED” lettering in front of the dance floor and DJ booth. We also brought a custom center stage floor wrap from Athens with our monogram on it to designate the dancefloor for the guests. We arrived as husband and wife to the venue on a small fishing boat (kaiki) and the view from the sea to the venue was spectacular with so many hues of white and purple lighting. When we danced our first dance, we had fireworks blasting off as a backdrop and it made for a really magical moment that we will never forget. The venue set up was magical and my brother, who is a DJ in New York, played some music that made the party even better”.
“Our favorite moment of our wedding was our wedding entrance at Lazarou Beach. We took a small fishing boat (kaiki) from the port of Platis Gialos to lazarou beach. Our photographer Niko was on the boat with us taking pictures of the moment we saw our venue and our videographer Vassili was flying a drone over the boat taking video of the moment. As we were approaching the deck, the boat driver lit a red flare and the dj began to play our entry song (Mazi Sou remix by Konstandinos Argiros) and sparklers we shooting up from the ground. all our family was there to greet us and it was a great way to get the party started!”. Bride’s advice: “Most importantly HAVE FUN, but also be patient, stay organized by making lists, create a mood board and a timeline of all the important wedding elements and if need be hire an efficient wedding planner to guide you along the way, especially for a destination wedding! As far as the day of the wedding, ENJOY every second, soak in all the beautiful moments, be present and dance your heart out because the time passes by before your eyes!”
