We awestruck by this lovely wedding in Kefalonia with the most stylish bohemian vibe. As Alice mentioned to us, they chose Kefalonia to the Greek island where they would tie the knot, due to its “natural beauty, the scenery and the relaxed but luxurious atmosphere and setting”. Alice also shared with us: “We wanted to be surrounded by the natural beauty of Greece but also celebrate our big day (week) in style. Also, from the very beginning our event planner Mari was so warm and welcoming – we felt that we could really trust her to help plan our wedding all the way from Australia! We did come across the Chic and Stylish Weddings website, while we were researching places to get married. The internet helps a lot when planning a wedding from the other side of the world!”

“We met in 2010 when we were both working in the same media industry in Sydney. We thought we were just great friends, everyone else thought there was a spark… and turns out they were right! Fast forward 8 years and we were travelling the world together and living in London, and in the summer of 2018 we decided on a last minute summer holiday to Zakynthos, Greece. We even treated ourselves to a brand new drone! Little did Alice know, this was all part of a master plan. Three days into the holiday on a beautiful blue sky day, we set off on a sailing day discovering swimming spots and diving into the sparkling sea from our little speedboat. To top it off, we made our way to the top of Navagio Beach to catch the sunset – and it was here that Tobi proposed, overlooking the beach 200m up with the sun setting in the background. All captured on the drone. Best surprise ever!
The ceremony took place in the Emelisse Nature Resort, a beautiful off-the-beaten track luxury hotel in Kefalonia, Greece. The concept of our wedding was ‘laidback luxe’. Earthy colors and rustic textures inspired by nature, combined with a touch of glam. Tobi and the groomsmen wore stylish beige linen suit jackets paired with chino pants, leather loafers and custom-made white shirts. The bridesmaids wore luxurious silky dresses in complementary styles and colours: rust orange, dusty rose, champagne yellow and rose gold. We loved our flowers so much! We envisaged earthy, natural flowers with unique and varied textures to fit in with our laidback luxe theme, as well as lots of green foliage to complement the natural setting at Emelisse. We could not have asked for a more perfect interpretation of this theme by Benetatos Flowers: they created the most stunning bouquets and flower crowns for the bridal party, not to mention the most amazing flower arch for our ceremony (which was then repurposed as a stunning and very Instagrammable centrepiece during our reception dinner).
“With such a stunning venue we only looked to complement the natural beauty on show with simple rustic chic accents. The afternoon ceremony was a postcard-worthy mix of sunshine and sea views against a backdrop of blue skies and nature. We simply provided some rustic wooden chairs and paper cones filled with olive leaves for our guests. The evening reception took place at sunset and featured beautiful, natural and rustic flower arrangements on long communal tables designed for our guests to talk, laugh and celebrate with one another. The table settings featured brass gold cutlery, crisp white tablecloths and the same wooden chairs from the ceremony, which complemented the hanging fairy lights, trees and sunset views.”
The bride’s advice: “If planning an overseas wedding, build in time to arrive earlier so you can meet with the people helping to plan your wedding face-to-face. It makes a big difference! Also, just have fun and try not to worry too much about the small details when the big day arrives – remember why you are doing this and just have fun with your loved ones!”
“Imagine ‘laidback luxe’ in a wedding dress! My wedding dress dress was the stunning and breathtaking Medina dress by New Zealand designers, Rue De Seine. It was a floor-length, backless dress with floaty tassel sleeves, intricate lace detailing and beautiful sequins that glistened in the sunlight. The back of the dress featured some Moroccan-inspired mirror tassels hanging from the top button, that also sparkled in the light. It achieved the goal of ‘wowing’ Tobi when I walked down the aisle and he saw me for the first time that day, and now has the title of Alice’s favorite dress ever!”
“The best moment of our wedding was when we were walking into our wedding dinner reception with the sun setting in the background, fairy lights, beautiful table settings, and all of our wonderful guests cheering and clapping in celebration of us just getting married!”
