From Monica Relyea Events: “Nestled just outside the quaint village of Saugerties is a magical place called Oz Farm. “Oz you say? Like the Wizard of Oz?” Well yes, but not exactly. Oz Farm is owned and operated by Jenny Oz LeRoy, granddaughter of the late, Mervyn LeRoy, producer of the Wizard of Oz. Jenny LeRoy, heir and former owner of Tavern on the Green in NYC, purchased the 80 acre farm to follow her dreams, bringing her knowledge of hospitality and passion for horses together in one magical setting. With tasteful nods to the Wizard of Oz found all over the farm, you can see how Jenny has blended her two passions perfectly. I was honored when we first met to have the opportunity to set up a Nod to Oz inspired shoot. My goal was to bring on board creatives who could help execute an inspired shoot with hints of Oz mixed with Hudson Valley equestrian farm flair. Right from the start I knew I would be using the 2017 Pantone color of the year green. The Emerald City would be the lead for the color scheme with dapples of yellow and of course tasteful props throughout that would suggest Oz without being so in-your-face. ”

“An ivory layered ball gown with gold sparkle from Chamonix Bride was perfectly chosen for our lovely “Dorothy” bride. Flawless soft makeup with red lips, by Angela Orr and a soft up-do by Lindsay Baxter, highlighted the beautiful neckline of the Wtoo by Watters dress. Her bouquet was one for the books! Gorgeous anemones, peonies and green tulips with layers of greenery from Rosehip Social, brought that perfect sought-after bokay to our look. An emerald stone engagement ring, from Zimmer Brothers Jewelers, was the only ring imaginable for this bride and made a bold statement all on its own. Our groom was tastefully dressed in navy with of course a yellow tie, boutonniere and men’s ring to match the bride.”

“Bringing in the right creatives was easy. Alicia King Photography’s light filled photos would evoke that whimsical feeling and North County Vintage had just the wares we would need to pull the entire look together. A beautiful invitation suite from Umama started our creative juices flowing. The touches of poppies and hot air balloons set an “Over the Rainbow” whimsical tone.”

“Starting in” Ceremony Field” we set the site with tin metal chairs facing the Catskill Mountains where the most beautiful sun sets show off. Rows of naturally faded fence added to the mountainous backdrop and also housed the most adorable furry farm friends one would dream to meet. A whimsical farm table from Events Unlimited was set with their square china and mixed florals in geometric containers from Rosehip Social brought a natural feel to the setting. North Country Vintage finished the look with rose gold flatware and amber vintage glasses. Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!, painted in glittered emerald green, held our escort cards designed by Coppola Creative. We finished this look with pictures of our couple with a green tandem bike and of course shots with our Toto stand in.”

“We quickly changed the look of our couple to show how you could take this theme into an evening affair. From whimsical to wicked, our bride’s fitted emerald green low back dress from Rent the Runway, set the tone for the night. The makeup by Angela Orr complimented the gown color and the off-set hair by Lindsay Baxter, allowed the low back to be the show stopper. A second bouquet from Rosehip Social made of mostly textural greens, pulled the whole fierce feeling together.”

“Heading over to the equestrian barn, where all the furry friends live, North Country Vintage, set a romantic setting for two using deep rich emerald and gold furniture, glittered pillows and vintage barware accessories. Set on top of a gold bar cart sat the most inspiring dessert. A geode cake, constructed by Super Cakes, was nothing short of a masterpiece. This three layer cake took your heart straight to the Emerald City and impressed us all. The horses even stopped to stare through their “Oz” cut barn windows.”

“Lastly, we ended the evening with our couple magically dining in a barn filled with the most romantic glowing candle light. A row of farm tables set with tin chairs from Events Unlimited naturally fit with the rustic interior barn. Vintage green glasses, rose gold flatware and multiple mixed metal candle holders from North Country Vintage took the table to a whole other dining experience. Even the horses couldn’t help but want to take part in all that surrounded them. More mixed florals from Rosehip Social and a natural linen runner dyed green pulled our Oz inspired setting together. There really is something magical about being surrounded by the warmth of a horse barn and tons of candle light in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Oz Farm truly makes you feel like there is “No Place Like Home”.”
