A destination wedding is Santorini is always magical! Natalie and Alex decided to seal their love in the traditional village Megalochori in Santorini, as they fell in love with the breathtaking view, the natural beauty and the romantic sunset of this place. A private wedding terrace of a rustic hotel, overlooking the caldera was the ideal place for their wedding as it has the most stunning view of the island. The couple chose to decorate the venue with an impressive floral wedding arch and white chairs adorned with small flower bouquets in soft pink and peach hues. Prepare to get inspired by a wedding straight out of a fairytale!
From the bride: “We met working in our local pub together. He was this tall handsome new barman who showed off his ‘ballroom dancing’ skills and gave great champagne foot massages!
Alex proposed on holiday in Dubrovnik, Croatia at the top of Mount Srdj after a cable car ride gazing over the Adriatic Sea and islands at sunset. He popped down on one knee in a secluded spot and took out the most beautiful engagement ring.”
“A beautifully fitted and elegant Stella York dress- A-line Tulle so it was lovely and flowing and cool at the bottom but fitted around the bust and waist with lace and pearl detail with thin spaghetti straps reaching down the low open back. My veil attached to my flower crown was cathedral length with 3D flowers flowing down it.”
“The ceremony took place in Suites of the Gods, on the outskirts of the traditional village Megalochori, Santorini- a beautiful rustic hotel on their private wedding terrace overlooking the caldera-easily the most stunning view on the island and utterly romantic. The breathtaking view that is still and always will be in our memories! We viewed many places on the island, but this place had our hearts from the moment we saw it and the staff make you feel so welcome and a part of the family. It was the perfect size for our intimate wedding party of 25.”
“We went for a pinky/peach coloured theme for the summery fresh floral feel with some sparkly gold to jazz and bling it up with little touches like our gold cocktail stirrer table name places. For my flower bouquet, I picked white peonies mixed with pink roses and then the bridesmaids were the opposite with pink peonies and white roses.”
“Wedding decoration was the fun part making the wedding bespoke and unique to us from personalized bunting, to a floral wedding arch to have the ceremony under and pimp my prosecco stand.”
“Too many favourite moments to choose- it was literally the best day of my life. Getting ready with all my bridesmaids was very special, to walking down the aisle with my dad of course was always going to be emotional giving me away to the man of my dreams at the end of the aisle. We had such fun throughout the whole day- Greek dancing was certainly entertaining, we had chosen and named our own cocktails with the hotels bartender Bruno to have on our big day which went down a treat with the guests and we had an acoustic guitarist Ilias play our first dance song whilst the sun was setting. Oh, and I couldn’t forget the food- utterly scrumptious I had to be careful not to burst my dress from eating so much!”
Advice to a bride-to-be: “Stay calm- what will be will be, have trust in others to help you rather than taking it all on your shoulders. Make sure to step back at a couple of points through the big day to really take it in otherwise it goes by too quickly!”
