“We met in Amsterdam. Our friends were dating and we went out for the friends of Jason (his friend) to meet the friends of Mariken (my friend). He proposed 4 years later in our home in Notting Hill, on 07/07/2014, so that I will never forget the date… He made a heart on the floor out of rose petals and went on one knee…”, the bride shared with us.
“We wanted the theme of our wedding to be wine. We both love good wine and have made several wine trips around the world. I wanted to also have the water element, by the sea, or view of the sea, being Greek that was something important to me. Ktima Xatzi, being a family owned boutique winery, with amazing views on the temple of Poseidon in Sounio, was exactly what we were looking for…”
“I got my wedding dress from a small wedding boutique in Notting Hill. They stock a limited number of designers (mainly French) and the dresses are handmade. I immediately liked my designer (Rime Arodaky) for the romantic French chic style, yet kind of alternative and rock and roll. It really felt perfect the moment I put it on…”
“Our wedding ceremony took place at Ktima Xatzi in Sounio, Greece”, the bride shared with us.
“The wedding decoration was entirely curated by the event planner of the estate, who did an amazing job with it. They used lysianthus, baby roses in white, olive branches and variety of vines and grapes. The estate has two olive trees of 150 years old in the garden that were also decorated and several “lounge” areas were created for the guests to relax and enjoy the magnificent view”
“The best decision was certainly to have a wedding planner helping us out. Elena gave us the right advice at the right time and made the whole experience much smoother. Having a planner in the estate as well was also super helpful as we hosted the whole day there and there were a lot of details to be taken care of. I can’t say there was a bad decision, there is always something that will not go 100% as planned, but I guess that is something you need to come to terms with and not stress too much about all the small things, just enjoy the day and the friends and family you are surrounded by…”
“The concept of the wedding was Greek summer elegant. We had a lot of people travelling from abroad and we wanted to give them the best that Greece had to offer. The colors were mainly white, and blue of the sky and the sea”
“Walking up towards my husband to be was certainly the highlight of the day. I was terrified and extremely emotional at the same time. With all our friends and family there, and him looking so handsome under the blue sky it was definitely a moment to remember. We didn’t have a traditional church wedding but exchanged vows instead, which was also very emotional and personal…”
“My bridal bouquet had olive and white baby roses…”
The bride’s advice: “Whilst getting everything right and as you dream of is very important, I think the details are not as important as brides think. At the end of the day it is all about the people you are surrounded with and the feelings. If something small goes wrong it’s not going to ruin your day”.
