I am beyond thrilled today to announce that we are starting a new series on Love4Wed (and very soon on Love4Weddings too!) called “Bloggers say I do!”!!! We will be asking amazing and talented bloggers to share their thoughts on how they would re-imagine their wedding, or imagine how they would like their future wedding to be! So exciting! I truly can’t wait to read about these lovely weddings and I am sure there will be overflowing with gorgeous wedding details that will give you tons of inspiration for your day. I could not think of better way start the “Bloggers say I do” series than with the lovely wedding blogger Sara Burnett! Sara is the owner and creator of Burnett’s Boards, an amazing and a widely recognized source of inspiration for stylish brides-to-be. Burnett’s Boards features wedding inspiration boards and exclusive styled shoots that are jaw dropping gorgeous to say the least. Well I can’t surely wait a minute longer! It is time to share all the prettiness! Take it away Sara!
I didn’t start blogging about weddings until over two years after my actual wedding and while I wouldn’t change a thing about my real wedding (see it here), I often tease my husband about what our vow renewals would look like. We had the opportunity to model in a wedding inspiration shoot that was totally vintage (see it here) and I love the look of it, but for a total re-imagining of our wedding – it would be different from even that.
The Wedding Style
Intimate Country Glam: Sort of like a southern manor or plantation house but one that still has an intimate atmosphere with cozy spaces to mix and mingle and a gorgeous outdoor area for the ceremony and reception.
The Color Palette
For a reimagining of our wedding we would definitely go with a neutral color palette: blacks, tans, khaki, white, ivory, some greens and a little blush and gold to keep it feminine and beautiful. I’ve always adored neutral color palettes – they’re so classy, classic, and utterly gorgeous.
The Wedding Dress & Shoes
This would be the hardest choice in the world – the thing that makes me weak in the knees time and time again as a wedding blogger is the fashion! I’ve got so many style crushes – this choice would be nearly impossible. With that said, for a reimagining of our wedding I’d definitely be one of those blessed brides who wears two or three dresses for her big day, and maybe even a fourth and fifth for the bridal session and rock the dress shoot. So spoiled – I know. But wedding dresses and bridal fashion is my thing! I’d also be a lot more adventurous with my looks. For the reception I would don something colored, patterned, or a black gown, but definitely not white or ivory – I’d save that look for the ceremony!
The Wedding Ceremony & Reception
For our real wedding we kept the ceremony short and sweet and outdoors and I’d do the same again. I’d do something similar for the reception too. I like the intimacy of family style dining and definitely don’t like being set apart at a sweetheart table. Our guests come for our wedding and we want to be a part of the celebration! While intimate, family style dining often means platters of food at the center of the table, I’d up the notch and serve a glamorous five or seven course meal. Drawn out for plenty of conversation time, and with loads of wine pairings and champagne. Caviar would definitely be involved – it’s my favorite food and my husband would insist on some sort of chicken dish.
The Wedding Cake
I think we would definitely go the multiple dessert route. Cake AND crème brulee. The cake I would want to be a statement piece – like a black cake: simple, gorgeous, but totally unique. It’s my newest favorite wedding trend right now too so I can’t imagine not having one.
Wedding Favors
For wedding favors we would give foodie themed gifts like wine glasses, or cutting boards and a sampling of cheeses.
Entertainment
For entertainment we’d definitely choose a live jazz band. We had one at our wedding and I’d choose the same all over again. We also had a string quartet play during our ceremony (from the symphony here in Honolulu) and I’d do the same again. It’s beautiful, romantic, and memorable. Nothing beats live music!
Honeymoon
We honeymooned in Cuba, which was a really different choice for American couples since it’s hard for Americans to get into Cuba, but we were able to get permits and had the time of our lives. We have a taste for adventure – originally we were planned on going to Mali and Timbuktu but it became too dangerous so we settled on Cuba. Now that we’re both a little older and prefer our adventure with a side of luxury if we were to honeymoon all over again I think we’d choose somewhere in Europe. Living in Hawaii, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, has meant that we’ve been able to visit the most popular honeymoon locations out there like Bora Bora and Fiji, so if we were to splurge all over again I think we’d go to Europe. It’s hard for us to get over there because it’s so far so a tour of Europe is definitely honeymoon-worthy!
Such an honor to share Sara’s thoughts on a re-imagining of her wedding day! Make sure you get your recommended daily dose of gorgeousness on Burnett’s Boards I know I will!
