“We met in October 2014 when I started volunteering at the same elderly assisted living community he was working in. We started dating that December, and he proposed on the beach of Kiawah Island in South Carolina on August 21, 2017 during the solar eclipse”.
“The ceremony took place in Stamata, Attikis, Greece at Ktima Kokotou.”
“After being engaged for a few months, we decided we wanted to get married in Greece. My family is from there, so while this was a chance to show Peter my heritage and connect more with my roots, this also provided us with an opportunity to have a wedding outside of the ordinary that we were finding in venues where we live here outside of Washington, D.C. After deciding to get married in Greece, we realized we needed the help of a wedding planner. We interviewed a lot, but fell in love with Maria and her company, MK events by Santo Weddings.”
“We told our planner, Maria from MK Events by Santo Weddings, we wanted a whimsical and romantic wedding, and from there we settled on our light blue, greenery, and gold accents color theme. Lights hung all over the venue added even more to the romantic and whimsical theme. The wedding venue felt like a dream.”
“A lot of the things stressing you out that seem like very important non-negotiables right now will actually turn into small things that you almost feel silly worrying about after the wedding. Just breathe and ask yourself how important this detail will be in a month, a few months, or a year. If you can, get a planner! Ours was our angel.”
“I knew I did not want to spend an arm and a leg on a dress, so I found one that I fell in love with from Azazie. A lot of people say to make sure you match the dress to the type of venue, which is important, but I felt it was most important to find a dress that makes you sigh when you look at it. In July, we found out I was pregnant and expecting our first child together! This came as a surprise to us, and as the dress I originally chose started to become just a little more snug and form fitting than I hoped, I decided to use that dress for the ceremony, and get a second, more loose dress for the reception from Lulu’s. I still love both dresses!”
“The best moment was the start of the reception, when Peter and I made our entrance. We had never seen the venue before our wedding day, let alone how it looked with all of the decorations. Stepping out into the reception area, being in Greece, at our wedding, holding my husband’s hand as we looked out at our perfect reception with all of our loved ones there…that is a memory I will never forget.”
