Overlooking the deep blue sea, this gorgeous destination wedding in Crete will steal your heart! Both ceremony and reception held in an outdoor, greenery venue with a breathtaking view. The dominant colors of today’s wedding planned and styled beautifully by Moments Wedding Planners were white and baby blue and the decoration had a combination of wooden and elegant details, that matches perfectly the landscape. The couple decided to let the natural beauty shine and keep it all light and simple. One of the most impressive details of the decoration was the all-white arch which was adorned with white and blue flowers and tulle curtains. “We first met in 2006. I was close friends with his cousin Natalie, we met at her birthday and started dating shortly after. We got engaged nine years later. He proposed on the way to a romantic dinner with a beautiful ring he’d had made which incorporated a family diamond”, the bride shared with us.
“The ceremony took place at a seafront location in Rethymno, Crete. We picked Rethymno for our destination wedding because we think Crete is very beautiful and the Greek hospitality and laid-back nature of the island suited us and what we wanted for our day. I saw the wedding venue online and when we went and visited we knew it was the perfect spot to be married.”
“We chose a relaxed, natural style for our wedding. We had lots of whites and neutral colors with some pale blue and a little gold. I found inspiration and ideas from Pinterest! I sent Annika at Moments lots of photos from Pinterest along with my own ideas and she made all of it a come to life. I also looked at past weddings on both the Moments and Hannamonika websites for styling ideas.”
“For my bouquet I picked tulips, hydrangea and freesias. The freesias I chose to include something of my late Nana in the wedding, as she had them in her wedding bouquet. The tulips and hydrangeas because they were in season and they looked effective in the bouquets and the centerpieces.”
“We really didn’t need too much decoration with such a picturesque setting. The whole wedding day was outside and, so we chose decoration that allowed the natural beauty of the venue to shine through. We had a wedding arch with hanging fabric and flower decoration that was set up directly in front of the sea view. We had a mix of tall centerpieces with tulips in vases and floating candles and traditional bouquets and in the evening we used up lighting to show off the row of beautiful big palm trees lining the seafront.”
“The best moment of our wedding was the Greek Dancing! It was important to us that all of our guests had fun at our wedding, so we were delighted when all seventy-eight of them got up out of their seats to enjoy and join in with the dancing. The dancers were fantastic and after the Greek Dancing ended, the party started, and everyone was up and having a good time.”
“My wedding dress was a full Spanish lace wedding gown by Pronovias. It was simple but dramatic with a fitted body and a long train. I matched it with a full-length veil, handmade by a family friend that incorporated the off-cuts from my dress.”
“My advice for a bride that is planning her wedding now: Your wedding will be as simple or as complicated as you make it. If you don’t like a tradition, don’t include it, it’s your day! If you haven’t enlisted a planner, ask friends and family to help you organize and don’t worry about the little details, they won’t matter to you on the day! Relax and enjoy it.”
