Stylish summer wedding in Somerset England with vintage det | Ella & Charlie

We have a special spot in our hearts for classically beautiful weddings like the wedding of Ella and Charlie at the stunning Brympton House in the Somerset countryside of England. With a pretty soft neutral palette and romantic florals, this couple’s wedding is going to make you want to spend the entire day looking at their gorgeous wedding photos captured wonderfully by Jessica Lily Photography!

«We met in freshers’ week at university but didn’t become a couple until 3 years later. Charlie proposed on holiday in Ibiza with a group of our closest friends. We went for a romantic dinner at Hostal La Torre (just the two of us) and went for a walk down on the rocks as the sun was setting. He proceeded to whip out his phone and read a poem he had written, and then got down on one knee. We headed back to our villa where all our friends had arranged a surprise party with decorations and Prosecco, then Charlie surprised me with a saxophonist who came and played at the villa for us all. », the bride shared with us.

I chose a soft, neutral palette for my flowers, which were a combination of gypsophila, white roses, and pale pink roses. I wanted things to feel quite subtle and understated so for the dinner tables we just had small, low-level arrangements of these flowers and then a long runner across the front of the sweetheart table for myself and Charlie.

«Our signage was very simple and modern, just plain black & white signs propped on simple black easels. My favorite decoration/feature was our asymmetric flower arch that we had framing us for our ceremony, which also got moved to go behind us during the dinner. »

«I was super anxious in the morning, but as soon as I met Charlie at the end of the aisle and we saw each other all dressed up for the first time, I just felt so happy, relieved, and excited for the day we were about to have. So, this was one of my favorite moments. Another favorite moment was our al fresco dinner. Firstly, having a sweetheart table for just the 2 of us (it was lovely having that time with just us, looking out at all our guests having a great time). Secondly the band we had were absolutely incredible and started the party during dinner, we were all up on our feet dancing between courses, which was so much fun!»

My advice to brides-to-be is to try and relax and enjoy the morning! I had 8 bridesmaids, and we were all getting ready together which should have been such a fun moment for me, but I was just so anxious. Trust your coordinator and all the professionals – they know what they’re doing and it’s all under control!

«My wedding dress was Chosen by Kyha and I got it from The Wedding Club in South Kensington. I didn’t have a second dress for the evening so wanted to customize what I had to provide a few different looks, so I had the sleeves made detachable (which I took off for the evening), and I then added a bow to the back for the party too. »

Today we are featuring the beautiful romantic wedding of Rachel and Andrew! The two lovebirds chose to exchange their vows on a beautiful day of autumn with an intimate wedding full of romance and elegance. The wedding ceremony and reception was so romantic with lots of fairy lights and beautiful flower arrangements combined with rustic details which made the scenery even dreamier. The bride was stunning in her mermaid wedding dress with lace details and long sleeves holding her colorful bridal bouquet. “My wedding dress was the second wedding dress I tried on. I thought I wanted something simple, but as soon as I tried it on (along with a veil!) I knew I wanted something more dramatic. I tried on a fair few more dresses but kept on coming back to it. The Bridal Emporium were amazing at helping me choose the beading, colours and alterations so it felt like it fitted perfectly on the day.”

Giselle and Marc’s rustic barn wedding could not have been any more gorgeous! With a greenery landscape as a background and a simple yet beautiful decoration of the ceremony with small flower bouquets, today’s wedding overflows elegance. After the ceremony, the couple with family and close friends enjoys a cocktail in the nature and had a ride in the carousel that was set at the outside of the wedding venue. The venue where host the reception was perfectly adorned with paper flower pompons in pastel colors and hanging lights that created a festive sense. The tables’ centerpieces had a rustic style that matches beautifully the wooden elements of the venue.

“We both were working in Harrods in London. She was working in the beauty apothecary and I was working in the Tax refunds department. She used to come over all the time and see me with the excuse that she was seeing her friend. Let just say we had friends in common. I liked her and her red lipstick. She was on my mind ever since. Afterwards I asked for her number at a friend’s gathering, we started talking and got on well ever since”.

“I took her on a day out, without her knowing where we were going. I had her bags ready in the car for an overnight stay at the Port Merrion cottages in North Wales. It’s an Italian/Welsh manmade village on the seaside. She loves everything Italian. I told her that we would go and see what it’s like for future reference, but what she didn’t know was I had already booked the best cottage in the village for the night with dinner. Before dinner in the romantic room, with a sunny view of the sea and a bottle of champagne, I pulled out the ring and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. Thankfully she didn’t say no”.

“I have always wanted a backless dress. Luckily, it only took me two days and it was the first store on the second day, first dress to try and I fell in love with it. It was backless, ivory in color with Swarovski crystals all over the dress. The dress was by Maggie Sottero”.

“The speeches caught us of guard and they also made a video for people who couldn’t attend to say a word. Mainly Cecilia’s father speech was very moving that it made her cry. Also, the first dance should be mentioned as one of the best moments”.

Jenna and Ross had their beautiful barn wedding at the Great Tythe Barn , a quintessential English gem and picturesque venue that has all the rustic charm you can ever ask for! We absolutely loved all the rustic wedding details in the decoration including the hand knitted lace, wooden crates and the table chart with picture frames! “We wanted a laid back day with a mix of tradition but not centered around formality. Our main goal was for everyone to have a great time and have a wedding to remember in the process!”

Jenna shared with us the wedding proposal story: “I was coming back from a friends Hen do in Bristol with a hideous hangover just so happened to be the day we secured the keys to our first house together. Ross was ringing me checking how far away I was and kept asking me how rough I felt (didn’t think anything of it at the time!) He said he was at the new house and to come straight there, when I arrived he was down on one knee in the kitchen surrounded by flowers and candles! It was a fabulous idea and soon knocked my hangover into touch…”

“The wedding location was absolutely perfect as I originate from Wales and Ross from London so a destination in the middle of the 2 seemed quite apt! Also, I had always loved the idea of a two day event where all the friends and family could mix the night before and stay on site. The Great Tythe Barn meant 80 people could be accommodated and not have to worry about transport to and from the venue plus we wanted a civil ceremony in a rustic location it was a dream find when we went to view it!”

“Our wedding photographers were attentive and listened to exactly what we were after. We loved the idea of getting to know them beforehand on the pre wedding shoot and after looking through their portfolio just knew they would capture the day exactly how we had envisioned. The approach to the guests and events throughout the day was amazing and really put everyone at ease. They really captured the emotion of the day and it shows through the photography work. The compliments we are getting on the album are phenomenal and the ‘tricks of the trade’ to capture the best light and angles were used without ever feeling like it was taking too long. We were really quite fussy as we wanted the best photos without standing around for hours posing so they had their work cut out for them, but definitely knew what we wanted in the end probably more than we did!”

The bride’s advise: “Brides (although this is really trivial) you will be zoned out for a good portion of the morning as it gets closer to the time and it sinks in that you are getting married (well I was, anyway!) so make sure you are absolutely 100% happy with how your hair/makeup looks and feels, get an honest bridesmaid to step in and bark out orders if needs be! Once you step out to get married the photos really start and you cant take it back! It was a really humid day for us and if I could change one thing it would be to not have bits of hair hanging down within and hour they had lost their curls and gone limp! So make sure you have factored in how your hair will behave…. As for the build up and day … just have fun with it all and don’t stress about the little things (although of course you will!)”
