The bride shared with us: “We met in 2015 at Red Door bar in Nashville, TN through mutual friends. We had a set of friends that strategically arranged for us to meet that night. Once there, we started talking and then went on our first date a few days later. We have been together ever since”.
“Justin proposed in April of 2017 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. We took a long weekend trip to celebrate our 2-year anniversary. My mom asked us to send her a picture of us on the beach, so Justin suggested we take a sunset walk before dinner. When we got to the beach, he got down on one knee and proposed. I barely remember what he said because I started crying. I was so excited, I forgot to say yes! But eventually I was able to get words out and hug him”.
“I originally wanted peonies for my bouquet, but learned they would not make it to Greece in time for the wedding. We settled on David Austin roses in a deep magenta color with eucalyptus and olive greenery. They were perfect”.
“The style of our wedding was boho with a touch of class. We wanted everything to be really laid back, but also true to the two of us. I wanted beautiful bright flowers and a navy suit to bring out his eyes. My dress wasn’t the traditional wedding dress, but full lace and long sleeves. I wore my hair down in loose waves with a crystal headpiece that resembled an olive branch. We tried to incorporate traditional wedding ideas with our own style to make it feel unique”.
“The ceremony took place in Greece, more specifically in Santorini in Oia at the Andronis Luxury Suites on the balcony of the Lycabettus Restaurant. We had the most beautiful view of the ocean. We picked Greece because it had been on both of our bucket lists to visit. We always thought it was the most beautiful place in pictures. Before we ever got engaged, we both knew we wanted a small wedding and said whenever we did get married we would most likely elope. The pieces fell in place when I saw pictures of Santorini and the Andronis hotel. I quickly sent them to Justin and we both decided it was the most beautiful place we could ever imagine being married at!”
“We kept wedding decorations very simple with just flowers and a few whimsical pieces on the tables. I really wanted the ocean and cliff to be the main focal point with us in the midst of all that natural wonder. Santorini is stunning and needs no help!”
“The best moment of the wedding was seeing each other for the first time. I had gotten a little nervous when the music started but it felt like I was walking towards my best friend and everything would be okay once I saw him”.
“I do think the wedding blogs Chic and Stylish Weddings, Love4Weddings and EverAfter helped because it was great for us see how other couples eloped, but still have a ceremony. We wanted to keep somewhat of the traditional ceremony even though it was just the two of us. Wedding blogs really helped us pick out things like cutting the cake or skipping the first dance to fit our vision of the perfect day. Pictures definitely helped to see what type of dress I thought would fit in that setting and how comfortable I would be walking in stairs and little details like that, which were really useful!”
“My wedding dress was perfect! It was the Avril gown by Rue De Seine and if you can imagine something being sexy and elegant and comfortable, then that is this dress. It was long sleeves with a train. It had a nude slip with a lace overlay. The back dipped down but not too low. It was everything I ever wanted and more!”
“I would advise a bride to do what best fits them as a couple. Have the day you dreamed of, and not the day that your parents or in-laws dreamed for you. If you get nervous in front of a crowd, keep it small. If you always dreamed of going to Greece, go to Greece! This day is about you and your husband starting your lives together and you shouldn’t let someone else make you feel guilty for doing what fits you two as a couple, even if it doesn’t fit their vision for you”.
