With soft romantic colors and set in a breathtaking location in Mykonos, this destination wedding is classically beautiful. We are definitely not surprised… with Thanos Asfis Photography behind the lens (we love the way he can tell a story through his images) and Only For You creating this amazingly beautiful wedding, brides-to-be today you are going to feel especially inspired!
“George and I were very young when we met, I was 19 and he was 21. We went on our first date 4 months after meeting each other and the rest is history, which has lead us to now. George surprised me on Christmas day with a huge boxed present. I started to open it to find another box within it, I then unwrapped that box to find another box until I eventually found the ring box open with the words “Will You Marry Me?”. It was the best Christmas surprise I could have ever wished for and I will cherish this memory forever”.
“My father and his side of the family are Myconian and live in Mykonos, so I’ve spent a lot of my time on the beautiful island. George always wanted a destination wedding himself and fell in love with Mykonos as much as I did when he first visited 6 years ago, so we knew Mykonos was the perfect place to marry”.
“We chose Saint John hotel due to the luxury feel of it, but most importantly because it has the most amazing view of the sunset on the island. The views were what sold it to us, overlooking the sea with the distant islands in sight, it set the scene and was just perfect for the style of wedding we wanted”.
“The wedding decoration was very important to us, and I can honestly say that Anjie, our wedding planner, completely transformed our venue and shipped a lot of the decoration in from Athens…even 120 chairs! The decoration was breathtaking and the sweetie table was the most amazing assortment we’ve seen! As the concept was very romantic we had a lot of flowers decorating the venue, soft lighting with candles and mood lighting, lanterns and assortment of decorative vases. Guests lit sparklers for our first dance which was so romantic and set the mood brilliantly”.
“We put a lot of thought into the decoration and wanted to give the guests treats along the way, so we had personalised water and fans at the reception to keep everyone cool, and personalised flip flops during the reception for all the keen dancers who’s feet needed a rest. Our wedding favors were jasmine scented candles and also the traditional Greek sugarcoated almond with Greek symbol pendants for keepsake”.
“The ceremony took place in Agios Ioannis in Mykonos at Saint John hotel”.
“The concept was very romantic with soft lighting with lanterns, candles and lots of flowers. Our wedding planner, Anjie from Only For You, did an amazing job with the style we wanted and knew exactly the concept we were after. The colours were soft peaches, blush and white. We went for romantic tones with a little hint of blue”.
“We loved the Greek Orthodox ceremony, as most guests were travelling from the UK and got to experience my Greek origins and take part in a different style of wedding ceremony that they are used to. We also loved our first dance as husband and wife and the amazing firework display. We felt like we were on Cloud 9 the entire time and will cherish these moments for a lifetime. The Greek dancers were great fun and it was great to see everyone getting involved and trying some of the traditional Greek dances!”
“My dress was from Wtih Love Bridals in Kent from a designer called Madison James. I instantly knew when I tried it on, I was with my mother and sister and they said they knew it was ‘the one’ too, so my decision was guaranteed after that. Jan from With Love Bridals was amazing as I wanted to have the dress changed slightly from the original design and after all her hard work I had my dream dress and I felt amazing in it”.
“My bouquet mainly consisted of white roses to keep it elegant and simply with soft tones of blush”.
“I used Pinterest a lot for the preparation for the wedding, from wedding colour schemes, to flowers, to wedding favors and everything in between. Pinterest worked really well for myself and my wedding planner as we used secret boards and could easily send styles and ideas to one another though Pinterest. You can find some great ideas and adapt them to fit in with your wedding concept”.
Bride’s advice: “Enjoy the process and remember to take it all in on the day. You have focused on the lead up to your magical day for a long long time and it’s important to enjoy it as much as you can”.
