The dreamy wedding of Michelle and Neoptolemos will mesmerize you! The lovely couple was dreaming of a wedding in Greece and specifically at the gorgeous Island Art & Taste. After been together for six years, they made their dream come true and planned a gorgeous wedding with the natural beauty of Greece and the deep blue sea as the backdrop. After the ceremony at the Saints Constantine and Helen Orthodox Cathedral of Glyfada, a lovely dinner followed. The venue was adorned with lash greenery and white flowers and many fairy lights were hanging from the trees creating a romantic ‘roof’ above the dance floor. The couple celebrated its love with its loved ones dancing till early in the morning! This gorgeous destination wedding in Greece was also featured in the Love4Weddings magazine!
The bride shared with us: “We met about 10 years ago in South Africa through my now koumbara Maria who is Neoptolemos’s first cousin. Four years later I tagged along with Maria to Switzerland to visit her cousin, and the rest is history! In May this year it will be 6 incredible years together.”
“I have been going to Athens for vacation with my family every year for the past 16 years where we have always stayed in the same hotel which has an ancient tiny church outside. The past 6 years Neo has joined us and in 2018 we went for a walk to “take photos of the sunset” right by the little church. Moments later I turned around and Neo was down on one knee. This is the very church where we saw each other for the first time on our wedding day.”
“Greece has always been a second home to me, and Neoptolemos shares in mine and my families love for Greece and everything about it. From the moment we connected 6 years ago, we always said we would get married at Island Athens Riviera one day!”
“My wedding dress was a Nicole Spose gown from Milano. I purchased it in South Africa. I knew from the very start that I wanted to purchase a dress rather than having one made and it was the best decision I ever made. I chose it on my first trip to a bridal shop and the deciding factors for me were firstly when my Mom and Mom-in-law jumped up off their seats when I walked out in the dress, and secondly, when I called my Father to come give the final approval and he said it was “Perfect”.”
“The wedding decoration was created by our incredible wedding planner, Nick Nicolaou. From the moment he saw the venue, he had a vision of exactly what he wanted, and of course we trusted him whole heartedly. When the sun was still shining, the focus was on the beautiful white flower arrangements which were elevated above the tables, and when the sun went down, it transformed into a true fairy tale with thousands of fairy lights connecting the whole floor plan to one central point – it was truly magic!”
“We had attended a fair amount of weddings prior to ours, and as each wedding has something extra special that stands out, we were constantly inspired. Of course, there was Instagram browsing for certain details however in terms of the look of the wedding, that was all our wedding planner! We also both just knew what we wanted, a simple wedding in our favorite place, with our nearest and dearest, and to give everyone a night they will never forget!”
“The ceremony took place in Athens at the Saints Constantine and Helen Orthodox Cathedral of Glyfada.”
“We wanted the wedding to be very clean and elegant. Our colors were white with a touch of greenery; we had the Mediterranean ocean surrounding us so what more could we want. Having all of our loved ones with us, in our favourite city, on a beautiful Summer’s day, meant all we really wanted from the start was to ensure that we partied until the next morning in true Greek style and created unforgettable memories.”
“I wanted a very clean, classic and elegant bouquet which is why I went with only short stemmed white roses.”
“The best moment of your wedding was when we had our first dance. The sun had gone down, there were fairy lights surrounding us, we danced to our favourite song together, in our favourite place, and for those 5 minutes, it felt like it was just the two of us as we switched off from anything surrounding us. To end off our dance we had orchestrated fireworks where it was initially just the two of us before our friends joined us as the dance floor was now open and we danced until 5am!”
Bride’s advice: “Nothing will ever go 100% according to plan and that is ok! You can never be too organised; it will help you when unexpected hurdles arise. But most importantly, enjoy this incredible build up to the day because it is truly the best time of your life and don’t lose sight of the fact that the wedding is just a formality to celebrate your and your partners love, so don’t sweat the small stuff.”
