Inspired by their love, this beautiful couple created the perfect natural wedding in Vouliagmeni, Athens. They wanted their wedding to be in a place surrounded by sunsets and beaches, so Greece was the ideal choice. The wedding followed an earthy color palette with tiny yellow details to add some vividness, such as small yellow flowers and lemons. Bia and Jimmy wanted for their wedding to be like a huge beach party, a day full of positive vibes and fun. The Residence, Island was the perfect place for an atmospheric reception which was decorated with many white tables and flower bouquets in white and yellow tones. You won’t want to miss a single moment of this wedding by Ioanna Vavamkari, captured by George Kossieris!
From planner Ioanna Vamvakari: “The wedding of Bia and Jimmy was the epitome of fun! Couple’s aim was to have a big party and celebrate their love with their loved ones. I planned and organized their wedding and we decided together not to follow any rules… After the ceremony and the photoshoot, I ‘kidnaped’ the couple..to take them to a picturesque cove; a 7-meter inflatable boat was waiting there. After about 10 miles, the couple made an entrance to the reception from the sea! The surprise entrance of the couple was a beautiful moment; all guests stood up and walked up to the sea, where Bia and Jimmy made their entrance. The inflatable boat was approaching, and the couple was greeting all of us, who were applauding”.
“We met through mutual friends. The proposal…. On a random summer morning, Jimmy asked me if I wanted to go to this spot under these rocks along Evanston beach. It seemed appropriate considering we were talking about Evanston and going there earlier in the week. I really didn’t think anything of it; going to our secret spot was a normal thing we did. His casual way caught me completely off guard! We hung out for a bit like we usually do, and then on our way up he was still a long way behind me?! I turned to find him with a ring in his hand asking me to marry him..”, the bride shared with us.
“I loved crochet applique lace which few designers actually have and so, it came down to two dresses. I put both on and had my mom decide… she still always knows best. I wore her princess Diana-esque train from 1989 which was extremely long made of raw silk that actually had applique lace on it originally.”
“The ceremony took place at Panagia Faneromeni in Vouliagmeni, Athens. The reception took place at The Residence in Varkiza, Athens. We wanted to get married surrounding beautiful sunsets and beaches; Greece was our favorite choice.”
“The best moment of our wedding was when my dad, brothers, and uncle walked me to the church and music was playing… then my husband’s face when he saw me come up the stairs as he was waiting with my bouquet- that was the best part.”
“The style was simply an escape on a cliff side beach- we wanted the style to be natural and complimenting to the scenery. We chose earthy tones for our colors and a little pop of lemon. For my bridal bouquet, I chose peonies and various wildflowers and herbals native to Greece.”
“We wanted our guests to enjoy themselves and feel as if they were at a huge beach party. The colors of my decor and flowers were white and green and some lemons. I chose lemons because of the lemon blossoms that are traditionally on “stefana” (crowns part of the ceremony). Aside from peonies and orchids, we picked different wildflowers directly from the floral greenhouse of Studio 7.”
“We chose things throughout the process, some that had intentional meaning. Like my favorite, the touch of lemons. After we picked things that were musts, our wedding planner and catering helped us finalize the rest. Another thing that’s amazing about having a wedding in Greece… choosing throughout the process rather than months before.”
Advice to a bride that is planning her wedding now: “Be relaxed and go to Mykonos three days before your wedding!”
