Our couple today decided to get married in Loutraki, Greece right on the beach! Such a lovely and refreshing wedding with a relaxed vibe that it fits perfectly with the beautiful landscape. It was a simple wedding that let the natural beauty shine, without excessive decoration and details. The dominant colors of the wedding were white, peach and light turquoise. The tables of the reception were decorated beautifully with big glass vases full of sand, shells and candles. Special guest of this unique wedding was the most adorable, furry member of the family, the couple’s dog!
“My husband jokingly proposed back in 2009 while on a road trip in Ireland. We were in our early twenties. Fast forward six years and we had a lovely civil wedding in Belgium, where we live. We also wanted to celebrate in our home country, and we managed to do it two years later”, the bride shared with us.
“We got married in Heraion Lagoon, in Loutraki, Greece. The ceremony took place right on the beach, next to the beach bar where we had the dinner and party. We enjoyed the relaxed vibe and refreshing sea breeze!”
“We picked Heraion Lagoon for our destination wedding, because it’s a beautiful spot, not far from our family homes and it was also easily accessible to our guests”.
“We loved walking down the beach to the ceremony with our doggie, Icarus. We decided not to follow tradition and arrived together instead, because after almost a decade together, we were already a family. In lieu of a first dance, we had great fun dancing the Gangnam style with our friends!”
“There was no specific concept; we just wanted simplicity and a laid-back style, because we wanted to let the natural beauty of the location shine and not overwhelm it with busy decor. The colors were inspired by the sea and the beach, turquoise and earth tones”.
“My bouquet was made of roses, lisianthus and various wildflowers. I exchanged emails with the florist and sent her inspiration photos of messy bouquets. She did an amazing job, it was better than I could have imagined! My favorite spring flowers, ranunculus and freezias, were difficult to find in August, so I had them on my hair piece instead”.
“I mostly found inspiration while browsing web shops for materials. My girlfriends would also send me links to wedding decor ideas. We had a few months to really plan everything, and we did it from abroad, so we had to rely on our families for help. Luckily, we are surrounded by creative people! Decoration was taken care of by my artistic and tireless mother. She made centerpieces using glass vases, sand and seashells, candles and gauze. We ordered the favor boxes and chose colorful dragées, then assembled them at home. We asked my sister, who is a pastry chef, to make us a small naked cake, and she also surprised us with a sea-inspired candy bar which was a huge success. There were also glass lanterns hanging from the trees which looked magical in the night.”
“Spending a small fortune (not to mention time and energy) on a dress I would wear only once was not something I could easily come to terms with. I ordered my dress online, it was custom made and everything I ever dreamed of! I worked with a wonderful designer from Israel who makes beautiful, ethereal and comfortable dresses. It was a quick, easy process and, most-importantly, stress-free”.
“My advice to a bride that is planning her wedding now…Many things will not go as planned. Stay cool and enjoy it all, accept help and don’t be a pain! Insist only on what really matters to you (in our case that was photography, location and avoiding bridal boutiques) and be open and ready to compromise on the rest”.
