Kate and Dylan said “I do” in a dreamy location overlooking the gorgeous natural beauty of Santorini island and the deep blue sea waters. The couple chose to create an ultra-romantic celebration of love, enhanced with fresh florals and details in blue color tones, blush and gold that matched perfectly with the gorgeous surroundings. The unforgettable ceremony was adorned with white furniture and a pretty white arch decorated with blue curtains and floral designs. The pampas grass added the essential softness and texture to the result, enhancing the whole setup. Both couple and guests spent special moments and had a great time with the magical sunset of Santorini as a backdrop. We are absolutely in love with every romantic yet elegant detail of this destination wedding!
The bride shared with us: “Dylan and I met in 2014 in the small, peaceful town of Vail, Colorado. Just 2 single twenty-somethings who wanted to escape to the mountains, ski some incredible terrain and completely emerge ourselves in the stunning natural ambiance. After long days of being a ski instructor and Dylan a photographer, we were finally introduced by mutual friends. I quickly fell for his long brown hair and beautiful blue eyes as he fell for my bright and genuine smile. It didn’t take long for us to take our first date to the mountain. Dylan didn’t waste any time taking me to a row of cliffs behind one of the most popular chair lifts on the mountain. I was nervous and anxious, but I felt my heart pounding the excitement. He jumped first. Looking back now, I can’t believe the man that was standing below me would become my husband. He looked up at me with encouragement; and with caution, uncertainty and fear, I jumped too.”
“When the ski season came to an end Dylan didn’t want the adventure to stop and invited me to join him on a three-month bike trip from Vancouver, BC to Mexico and of course with absolutely no training or experience, I said yes. We tested our compatibility and patience. Resiliency and trust became building blocks for our relationship. After our bike trip came to an end we said our goodbyes on a busy sidewalk in the downtown Los Angeles, CA. We knew that the ski season had come to an end and Dylan would not be returning to our peaceful town of Vail. Little did we know that we wouldn’t stay apart for long. Four years later on that same busy sidewalk in the middle of downtown LA he would be down on one knee, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. And once again, as I had always done before of course; I said YES!”
“All I can say now is marriage is awesome! Currently, we have put on hold our playful lifestyle and as I continue my nursing career and Dylan embarking on his new journey in obtaining a dual master’s degree in San Francisco. You bet we stay close to the ocean and mountains in northern California as we can, but we look back at Santorini as the absolute best time of our lives.”
“When it came to make the commitment to each other official, it was only fitting to have our wedding capture our adventurous, romantic and passionate relationship in none other than beautiful Santorini, Greece. We chose Santorini because of the dreamy, picturesque and panoramic views, but we knew we could still encompass the natural beauty my husband fell in love with. Neither Dylan or I had ever visited Greece which for us, solidified our decision even more. We took a chance just as we have our entire relationship.”
“After long months of searching I got in contact with Katerina Karida from Santorini My Wedding. From the moment we spoke, I immediately felt at ease and comfort that I was making the right decision. Katerina solidified our journey to Greece and helped us plan for over a year. She always gave us options and I always felt my vision was seen. When it came to the big day, we were at the Dana Villas which was quaint, secluded and absolutely perfect. Not to mention the breathtaking infinity suites which we stayed at to continue our celebration. Our photographer Dimitris Paridis was absolutely incredible. His poise and presence made us feel completely comfortable and relaxed. We could just be ourselves and he was there to capture it all. We enjoyed his company and he shared in our celebration of love! All we had to do was focus on each other.”
“My unique and beautifully textured Calla Blanche wedding gown was perfect for our big day. The train was dramatic, and cathedral styled which a created stunning look. It was the type of dress I had dreamed about when I was little, but never thought I would actually wear it when it came to the big day. I didn’t want to take it off!”
“The concept of our wedding was primarily romantic, with bit of bohemian style and a touch of elegance. Our colour palette consisted of blue tones, blush and gold which gave the wedding artistic and classic feel.”
“My favorite decoration of our wedding was the pampas grass. With the setting in Santorini, we wanted to be careful to not use decorations that would take away from its stunning natural beauty. Pampas grass was the perfect way to add texture and softness to enhance the setting.”
“There were so many moments we caught ourselves looking out at the dramatic and striking view of Santorini in disbelief that we were actually there, married and surrounded by some of our closest family and friends. We reminded each other to keep taking time to completely immerse ourselves and appreciate the special moments. We didn’t want the day to end. And with that being said, the best moment of the wedding was my husband’s wedding vows. I don’t know if there is anything more real than promising to spend the rest of your life with someone. He took us back through memory lane and all the sudden, for a moment, he made me feel like there was no one there but us. It didn’t matter where we were, who we were with and how we got there; all that mattered was us. It was the absolute most romantic day of my life. I couldn’t stop smiling and kissing my husband! All our friends and family that came felt the overwhelming feeling of love we shared.”
Bride’s advice: “My advice is to not be afraid to ask for what you want! Do as much research as you can and don’t hesitate to ask. For me, this was especially hard because of my easy-going and people pleasing personality. But take the time to decide what you really want and be okay with decision. You are your worst critic, so give yourself a break!”
