The wedding we are featuring today will transport you to a picturesque traditional scenery of Greece! The lovely couple always dreamed of having a summer wedding and Corfu was the ideal place to host the celebration of their love. With a beautiful backdrop of a stone-built village in Corfu, set up a dreamy setting that will mesmerize you! A long wooden table was adorned so beautifully by Lily Fleur’s impressive flower arrangements that were combined perfectly with many white candles, candlesticks and burlaps creating a very romantic atmosphere. What to say about this lovely floral arch that adorned the entrance of the reception area, preparing the guests for this wonderful celebration that would follow. This fairytale decoration completed in the most beautiful way with an attractive rustic table with all kinds of sweet delicacies decorated with hibiscus, lamps and wooden details. The bride was gorgeous in her mermaid Pronovias wedding dress with a sensual open back combined with an impressive bouquet of flowers which was adding the necessary touch of color and freshness to her bridal look. Enjoy every special moment of this lovely couple through the following photos, captured beautifully by Capture Moments!
The bride shared with us: “Alex and I met at work, we both work at a global real estate firm and I was training on the graduate programme and spent four months in Alex’s team over the summer in 2016! Alex was my supervisor and I asked him (quite innocently at the time!) to be my mentor. We started dating a few months later and I moved into his place in Notting Hill almost immediately! I knew as soon as we decided to be together that I wanted to marry him. He asked me to marry him 10 months later on my birthday 6thSeptember 2017! We were on holiday in the Greek islands and he proposed in Santorini at sunset after a wine tasting tour. The perfect birthday!”
“Charley is British, Alex is Greek, so it was a struggle choosing between Charley’s home in the beautiful English countryside and the Greek islands. We wanted a summer wedding therefore, the Greek islands won! A week-long party was our objective where everybody would combine their summer holidays with our wedding, would be more relaxed and we would enjoy our guests’ company for longer. We started considering which islands tick the boxes and in the end we decided on Corfu as our destination. The island has an amazing Old Town with beautiful architecture, it’s a green island due to its seasons with stunning and varied landscapes, very easy access with direct flights (important as we had guests from various areas in Greece, Cyprus, UK, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and the Bahamas) and a good range of wedding venues and wedding vendors (e.g. catering, florists etc.). We were able to organise a range of events over a few days including a boat party, a pre-wedding dinner at the stunning vineyard Ambelonas and a beach party the day after the wedding at Imabari. In fact, through organising the wedding we have fallen so in love with Corfu that we have now decided to move there! We have one-way flights booked for start of October!”
“I got a Pronovias dress (named Eol) from a boutique in Kensington. It was very simple and elegant from the front – a mermaid shape made of ivory crepe with a beateau neckline. It had a crossed beaded low back and I wore a cathedral length veil with lace trimming.”
“The ceremony took place In Mitropolis Church in Corfu Old Town, Greece.”
The groom shared with us: “The best moment of our wedding was Charley walking down the isle with her dad to the choir and tenor singing Ave Maria and her Dad handing Charley over to me.”
“For my bridal bouquet I choose Kahala rose, eucalyptus baby blue, eucalyptus nobilis, ivy, eustoma white, eryngium blue thistles, limonium white, amaranthus lila, veronica blue, thlaspi green, limonium fuscia, aster white, gomphrena white.”
“The wedding was very natural and rustic – a bit like a street party due to the venue being at Danilia Village which is a unique replica of a traditional Corfiot village. The venue is so stunning itself that thanks to the good eye of our wedding planner, was fairly easy to decorate. The main colours were sage green and white with hues of lilac, dusky pink, blue and peach.”
“We had long wooden tables with hessian table runners and ivy, lots of candles and fairy lights. We had a flower arch, potted plants and tall silver candelabras.”
The bride shared with us: “The best moment of my wedding was at midnight it happened to turn my mum’s birthday. We had secretly given out celebration flairs and sparklers to everyone (apart from my mum) and at the end of my speech I lit my flair and shouted “Let’s party”. Simultaneously everyone lit theirs and a medley of my mum’s favourite tunes blasted out and everyone was going mad jumping around, dancing and laughing. It was a moment of pure love and joy.”
Advise to a bride-to-be: “Don’t stress – its yours and your fiancés day, do what you want to do and enjoy the journey… and the day of course!”
