Nikos Arvanitidis Photography is sharing with us today the beautiful wedding of Timo and Torsten. The couple said “I do” in front of the endless blue sea in Chalkidiki surrounded by their closest relatives and friends that travelled from all over the world to be with them. From the gorgeous ceremony with white cream roses to the stunning reception filled with countless white candles, this wedding is truly amazing! As you will see, not only the happy couple, but everybody was dressed in white. Definitely the all white color palette evoked a sense of timelessness in the destination wedding in Greece! “We met by coincidence online while I (Timo) was working in Hamburg. Our first personal meeting was in August 2016 in Berlin. Torsten came all the way from Hamburg to meet me there and from the minute I saw him at the train station when I picked him up, I knew I will marry this guy one day. I am a huge fan of actress Barbara Eden and I have an extensive collection at home. I have met her several times before and I said to Torsten in 2018 that we should go to Los Angeles so he can also meet the other love of my life. He agreed. I asked Barbara Eden and she said immediately that she would like to see me and meet my new boyfriend. So we booked our tickets and agreed to meet on August 26th, 2018 in a very, very nice restaurant in Beverly Hills. I kept Torsten updated about the conversation with Barbara Eden and her husband and he was very happy. Little did I know that he saw her email address and contacted her… When we had dinner at the Ivy Restaurant with Barbara, her husband, her best friend and ourselves, he suddenly excused himself and asked to say something in German. I thought he was crazy. Why would he say something in German? He then stood up, held a beautiful and long speech, went on his knees and asked me THE big question! It was amazing, romantic and beautiful. The whole atmosphere was dreamy, full of flowers and fresh roses. I love Los Anegels and I have managed from being a huge fan of Barbara Eden to becoming a friend of her, to have her by my side on that amazing day and getting asked that question was a dream come true”, Timo shared with us.
“We chose Ktima Nefeli mostly because of a video we saw on YouTube. We wanted to get married in Germany first but we couldn’t find the right location. Then friends suggested to get married in Greece (my father is Greek) and once I started looking I found Ktima Nefeli. It was the perfect setting and I knew right away: this HAS to be our wedding location. The beach, the grass, the palm dress, the restaurant and just across the street enough rooms for guest. I have sent Ktima Nefeli an email to find out about available dates, this is how it started and then started to do my research: found other brides and grooms online who got married there before and asked them about the experiences and recommendations. We found Meni Rogiti in Thessaloniki and met with her and we knew from the first minute: she was the perfect choice! She had great ideas. We chose white cream roses and lots of green leaves and olive trees. Each of our guest got a little olive tree as a present that was decorated by the table (background story: my father has Olive Trees in Halkidiki and sells Olive Oil in Germany)”.
“Our reception was plain and simple. We stayed at our villa at Ktima Nefeli that had it’s own pool and organized a few hundreds of bottles of wine from our favorite Greek Wine Estate Gerovasiliou in Thessaloniki. It was a beautiful come together from all our guests who came from all parts of Germany, the US, Canada and Netherlands”.
“Everything was perfect! It was very touching to walk separately with our mothers to the altar by the beach. We had a wonderful singer and wedding speaker from Germany and the whole ceremony was very romantic. Everybody was in happy tears. We enjoyed the speeches from our guests and of course the party was amazing. we wanted to get crazy with all our guests and we danced until 8 o clock the next morning”.
“We wanted do have white party. I got so annoyed to see videos where people wear all kinds of colors.. pink, dark colors, yellow, even pair of jeans (!), dresses with stripes. I said: why don’t we all wear white? It matched to Greece and is so comfortable to the eyes. All our guests loved the idea: so we had a white party. At the end, my husband and I decided to wear the same outfit. We wore a nicely made Crochet Shirt along with a holy cross that a jewelry designer made in Thessaloniki, our pants where by designer Hannes Röther and our shoes were from Santoni in Italy”.
Couple’s advice: “If you don’t have a wedding planner: take your time! Write down all of your ideas and talk with your partner about all those ideas. Look at blogs and magazines and Instagram, but don’t get carried away. Take a look at your budget, too. You can realize amazing things even with a smaller budget. Once everything is settled, try to trust those people you have hired. They are professionals, they know their job. Let it go and enjoy the days before and especially the BIG day! Relax and soak in those magical feelings”.
