“John and I met through mutual friends of both of ours. We went on a night out with a big group of friends in 2016 and got introduced to each other then and have been inseparable ever since. John proposed in November 2020 when there were still some lockdown restrictions in place. However, he booked a night away at a spa hotel in Inverness with a room overlooking the river. We were able to take our dog Benji with us, so we went on a big dog walk and relaxed in the spa. When getting ready for dinner, I was finishing getting ready in the bathroom and came out to find Benji wearing a bow tie and John on one knee with my late mother’s engagement ring”, India shared with us.
“We were keen to go for a fairly understated but beautiful look for our wedding, lighting being the most important thing. I absolutely love the ambiance which fairy lights create. It really brought our outdoor space to light when the sun began to set. I wanted my flowers to be simple but beautiful, containing lots of greenery”.
“Some stand out moments out be that we had a piper play whilst I walked down the aisle which was so special as we live in Scotland and my late mum is Scottish…”
“The party we had was also a hoot – we danced the night and morning away – till 6am!”
“My dress was an Anna Kara dress. It was important that I was comfortable, would be able to dance and felt sexy – and this designer ticks all those boxes. my dress also was of a lightweight material which made it very easy to pack in my suitcase and makes it ideal for the warmer Cyprus temperatures”.
“We started planning our abroad wedding on our own, however 8 months before the wedding, I was finding myself getting stressed over bringing everything together and the detailing. The best decision I made was getting a local wedding planner! They make every step of the journey seamless as well as talk you through what is required for the legalities of getting married abroad. They also have great relationships with local vendors which also helps. Having a wedding planner is priceless and worth every penny! It is also important to have a great photographer and (if you can) spend out for a videographer as well. The memories you create on your wedding day are priceless, and it’s such a joy being able to look back at those happy memories”.
