Stylish and natural are the two words we use to sum up this gorgeous ecofriendly wedding in Cyprus with an olive theme! We absolutely loved (and cried a little too!) their proposal story. As the bride share with us: “Michael proposed to me on my 29th birthday (a very unlikely thing for Michael to do). He took me to our neighborhood park where he told me he has a surprise for me before her birthday dinner. There he had a night picnic set up with fairy lights and champagne. Once we had a glass of champagne, he pulled out his laptop and gave me his headphones. A 20 min long video of a compilation of my family and friends wishing me a Happy Birthday came on. The last person who came upon the video was Michael who after saying a beautiful long speech he asked me to turn around for my last surprise. As I did… Michael was already kneeled down on one knee holding a ring…”
The stylish bride shared with us: “We have been family friends since we were young but always lived in 2 different sides of the world (Michael in Australia and Chloe in Cyprus). After a summer fling in 2008 our path separated. We did, however, tried a long-distance relationship. While contact and feelings were always kept, the conversations became much less frequent. Fast forward to Dec 2013, Chloe decided to attempt a move to Melbourne but of course, as fate would play it, Michael had already booked a one-way ticket to London. Feb 2014, a month before Michael moved to London we decided to give this relationship another (long-distance) shot. Michael eventually cut his London adventure short and we finally began our relationship in the same country Sept 2014… “
“We couldn’t pick one place to have a wedding so we chose to have two. One in Melbourne and one in Cyprus. Since Chloe’s family and friends still live in Cyprus it was the ideal spot to do it there. We wanted to have that minimal, organic, natural feel while at the same time make it as eco-friendly and ethical as possible. Colors of olive green, and peach bougainvillea…”
“We wanted to incorporate elements from Cyprus, Italy and Spain (Michael’s origins) as well as a little bit of Australia (our home now).”
“For my wedding bouquet we used lots of greenery, olive branches, eucalyptus, and italian ruscus with gum nuts, poppy seed heads, scabiosa, Seteria, veronica and nigela.”
“Casa Cook and San Giorgio in Mykonos were our inspirations for our wedding style. Minimal and organic! Lots of greenery and items from my mum’s backyard. Elements of wood, terracotta, stone and steel. Sixfour were amazing in creating the ideal mood for our wedding..”
“There were so many beautiful moments from our wedding in Cyprus…. however one of the best ones were during our photoshoot after the ceremony. We went to a nearby hill which overlooked the reception. It was so beautiful to have a bird’s eye view of all our guests enjoying the cocktail hour, seeing the decoration set up and listening to the music during sunset time while enjoying those moments just the 2 of us. We felt immersed gratitude and love…”
“My wedding gown was custom made by the amazing ELLY SOFOCLI. It was a sweetheart neckline, fit and flare style completed with exposed boning and Grecian drape work that draped diagonally over my chest. I wanted something that was relaxed but was still beautiful and romantic so we chose a completely encrusted pearl beaded fabrication that caught the sunlight.”
The bride’s advice: “To enjoy every part of her wedding planning as much as the wedding. Everyone says it but the actual day goes by so quickly so enjoy the whole process and anticipation is as enjoyable and memorable as the actual day…”
