Romantic florals in fuchsia and red tones and some gold details are just a few things we are in love with from this summer wedding in Kefalonia decorated beautifully by Bosonis! Gina and Nick exchanged their vows in front of gorgeous floral arch filled with colorful hydrangeas, roses and peonies and we are swooning every time we look at this destination wedding in Kefalonia!

«We met on the island of Kefalonia in July 2013. I was travelling to my family island with 9 girlfriends to celebrate my 21st birthday, and Nick gate-crashed the party! Apparently, I put up quite the fuss, but Nick still thought “she’s marriage material”. A whirlwind move across the world followed and five months later I moved from South Africa to join Nick in London with no return ticket and one suitcase. Nick whisked me away, showing me the castles and theatre shows and all that London had to offer to make me stay. On the 1st of September 2020 we were visiting Kefalonia and stayed in Fiskardo for two nights. On the final day of our stay in Fiskardo, Nick said he wasn’t feeling too well and wanted to get back to our family villa in Spartia. As we were driving back into the village of Spartia he pulled the car off the road and was bending down into his driver’s side door. I thought “Oh no! He’s going to be sick. We’re almost home, can’t he wait”. To my surprise he pulled out an eye mask and told me to wear it, no peaking, and no questions. At this point I really didn’t know what to expect! It was a COVID year, and I hadn’t seen my parents in over a year because they were stuck in South Africa. I thought just maybe they had made it to Greece after all. With my blindfold on, Nick continued to drive. I thought I would recognize the route, but I did not. Then he parked and led me into a building and up some stairs. When he took the blindfold off, I was in the guest bedroom of our family villa. All the shutters were closed so I couldn’t see anything except the room itself. I remember thinking “some has been in here to clean since we left.” Nick told me that we were going out for dinner and that I had 1 hour to get ready. He also said I was not allowed to leave the room or look through the closed shutters. As he left, he started a playlist from our speaker system. The very first song was “our song” Zambezi by Tinashe. I knew from that song that something special was going to happen. As I got ready, the playlist was full of songs that told our story, from our favorite shows to our favorite live performances, to movies we enjoy and ending, exactly one hour later on a song we sang together in Kefalonia in 2013. I turned off the speaker and opened the bedroom door. The floor was covered in a petal trail with polaroid pictures. The first one read “follow the photos”. There was music playing. It was a bouzouki playing Pelagia’s Song from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin – my favorite and filmed on Kefalonia too! The petal trail led me to the pool outside where Nick stood under a beautiful flower pergola with fair lights. The pool was full of colorful petals. Nick asked me to be his wife “forever and ever”, I said “Yes, please!” We celebrated with champagne and a photoshoot. », bride shared with us.
«I followed Chic and Stylish Weddings online to view ideas from other couples who had got married in Kefalonia before. Trying to get a feel for venues, colors and entertainment. »
«My favorite moment was walking down the aisle with my dad towards Nick and everyone was clapping! »
«Even if the flower quote you get seems expensive, it is worth it! I spent weeks deliberating on flowers and eventually I went ahead with Bosonis Flowers Events Gardening. They made the venue come to life and understood the vision I had. Try to enjoy every moment of the process. I found some days during the planning so stressful that I was looking forward to the day after the wedding so it could all be over, but then eventually it all came together, and it was without a doubt the best day of my life. I used to think when people said that, “yeah, yeah” but to us, it honestly turned out to be the very best day. Because we got engaged during COVID and initially had booked our wedding to be in 2021, we decided to wait until 2022 to allow for more family and friends to have the chance to join us in Kefalonia as they were coming from all over the world. It was worth the wait. Being in one place with all the people we love so very much at the same time – nothing compares. »
«After getting engaged when I got back to London, I called my cousin and said, “let’s just go see what wedding dresses are like and maybe start to get a feel for what I like and what I don’t like.” Well, it was the very first dress I tried on! I had received targeted marketing on Instagram from Aurora Bride in Cheam, UK and booked to see one of their consultants. I explained to the consultant what I thought I didn’t want, and she then went and pulled out 4 or 5 options. The very first dress I tried on I fell in love with. It was everything to me and made me feel like a princess. I was worried about choosing the first dress though, so I did try on another four or five dresses, but I kept coming back to the first one. I walked away that day having secured my wedding dress. I didn’t know that the next time I would see it again would be 21 months later when I would have my first fitting. Thankfully, I still absolutely loved the dress! »
«The Photographer and Videographers came from South Africa to shoot the wedding. I fell in love with both of their styles of capturing through their Instagram profiles and am so pleased they were able to make the trip to Kefalonia. None of our wedding would have been possible without my mum who arranged all of the vendors in Kefalonia and was our person “on the ground» while we were in London planning from afar.»
