“My husband and I have been known each other since high school. Since then, we both lived abroad for a number of years, to finally come back to Greece and meet again in 2019. That invitation for lunch in Summer 2019 in Thessaloniki, was enough for us to get back together and be inseparable since then! In 2021, while deciding which island to visit for vacation, we chose Symi, as a unique place for relaxation from work and everyday life. The proposal happened there, with the magnificent view of Symi’s port. We were walking up the hill for about an hour, to get to a high point where we could see the whole port of Symi. Suddenly, he knelt, and he pops up the question! I was really excited that it happened there, with that view, and that he caught me by surprise! After saying yes, he took out of his bag a bottle of Campari and we celebrated there and then!”, the bride shared with us.
“The idea and the theme of the wedding were actually based on the colors of Symi island. Orange, yellow and light blue. The whole wedding, from invitation, to wedding favors and flowers, had this style. The invitations were hand painted pictures by my mother, inspired by the island’s characteristic houses, paths, as well as a map of the island. The invitation consisted of 3 separate sheets, 2 of them with a special kind of paper, so that it can be turned into a nice picture / poster for the guests’ home. The bridal bouquet was an exception. In order to match perfectly with the bridal dress which was light blue, I chose salmon color roses and anthurium, one of my favourite flowers. It’s unique, long- lasting, a flower that attracts good things in life. The flowers were added everywhere, from the candy bar at the Church, to the centerpieces of the guests’ tables, bridal table, as well as the pergola of the Venue. We absolutely loved the Venue Style, with lots of flowers, a magnificent view of the port, candles on the tables, fish food and wine from Rhodes Island, as well as special napkins in orange colour for the guests, with the couple’s initials-another personalized gift to take back home. The wedding favor was a marble sous-verre, with pictures of Symi, a copy of paintings that my mother had prepared”.
“When I visited Primalicia one month before the actual wedding for the last fit, I saw this dress on the window display. It was love at first sight. I immediately asked to try it on! Light blue is also my favourite color, the wedding would be on an island, I couldn’t ask for a better match! The decision came easily”.
“It is difficult to choose a favourite moment, because the whole wedding trip was full of emotions and unique feelings. I would say that, at some point during the wedding party, I looked around and realized that everyone was on the dance floor, including my uncle that I have never seen him relaxed, let alone dancing! We were all together over there, best friends and close relatives, cheering up our best moments!”
“My best advice would be to wake up on the wedding day and not to care about anything else in the world except yourself, your inner peace and your future husband. It will all go well. There shouldn’t be anxiety that day, only happiness, emotions and love”.
