The bride shared with us: “We had a summer wedding in Halkidiki. We met in England in 2010 through a mutual friend, now the Maid of Honour, on a night out. We spent the entire night chatting and laughing and quickly became friends. We were really close for 2 years and had a great friendship before eventually becoming a couple in 2012. It was a great chance to really get to know each other which ultimately is why we work so well together. We moved to Singapore in 2014 and have been living there ever since. We got engaged in 2017 while on a holiday in Thailand. We were staying at a beautiful resort by the beach and were just chilling on the balcony watching the sunset when Richard proposed.”
“The theme of the wedding was rustic Mediterranean. The color palette was white, yellow and green. We used a lot of lemons, rosemary and olives in our decorations and stationery because we wanted to combine Richard’s love of lemons and my Greek heritage. The ceremony was held on a beautiful lawn with the sunset in the background; we stood on a beautiful carpet, surrounded by baskets of yellow and white flowers. We had a few rows of wooden chairs for our guests which we decorated with olive branches and lemons. A tree at the back was decorated with black and white pictures of our grandparents’ weddings. My bouquet was made by my dad with flowers exclusively from his garden. He is a really good gardener and I knew he would do a great job with it. It looked amazing! Our wedding favors were little jars of honey from Halkidiki; we chose them because we wanted our international guests to take a bit of Greece home with them. Our wedding planner, Marina from Concept Events Planning from really brought our vision to life. We cannot thank her enough, without her, it would all have been impossible! She is the best.”
“I knew I wanted a dress that wasn’t white and one that was sexy but elegant. I struggled a lot to find anything on the market, so I decided to have it custom made. I worked with a designer in California, while I was there for business trips. We created a beautiful gown that I could wear again if I wanted to. The bottom is made of soft gold silk with a long slit that goes up the thigh. The top is all net and lace with no backing, so we had to place beading in all the right places to cover me up. It was really comfortable, which was very important to me, but at the same time sophisticated and sexy.”
“We both knew that we wouldn’t have much time to ourselves during the wedding, so we decided to sit at our own table alone during dinner. We ended up having a lovely, intimate meal together before mingling with our guests. It was the best decision we made.”
The bride’s advice: “Your wedding is yours and your partners alone. Make sure that you are both happy with all the decisions you make. Don’t feel the pressure to do anything that pleases others but not yourself. It’s your day and your happiness takes priority.”
