The first time Eleni and George went to Skopelos, they visited the church of St. John, one of the most picturesque churches on the island. Situated on the top of a majestic rock with a magnificent view of the deep blue sea. That is were Eleni and George promised each other that they would go back one day… and have their boho style wedding in Skopelos.
After 5 years… that promise became true and they planned a boho style wedding in Skopelos with their closest friends and family. “We wanted to see their happy faces at our wedding!”, Eleni told us.
The day before the wedding, friends and family had the time of their life with Eleni and George on a picture perfect beach that is surrounded by pine trees. The most fun pre-wedding beach party ever!
“My wedding dress was custom made by an amazing seamstress and I was inspired by a dress from designer Leila Hafzi. What I really enjoyed about the dress was the remarkable feeling and movement of its fabric. However, I did have extreme difficulty finding silk fabric in the color I wanted, which was sandy beige!”
“My hairstyle and makeup was done by my dear friend Artemis Pantedaki. I didn’t ask for a specific style… I just told her I wanted to be me…”
One of the most beautiful and memorable moments for the groom was:“When I was on my way to pick up the bride, during the entire drive, all these images of our life together was coming to my mind… Then when Eleni and I were heading towards the church of St. John… we were both very emotional!… One moment we were laughing and then the next the emotions were very intense…”
One must climb 105 stairs to reach the church, each one carved in the stone… From the top of the rock, the view is breathtaking. Hidden between the rocks are beaches with blue-green waters… such a gorgeous and unique location.
Eleni and George met at work. Eleni organized conventions for the University of Patra and George was involved in a reasearch program as an engineer. “In the beginning we were close friends but then our relationship evolved…”, the bride mentioned.
The boho style wedding decoration was created by the bride and her friend Fay Panagopoulou, owners of the event and wedding planning company called Shine. According to the bride: “The general idea was that the wedding decoration should reflect us as couple and be simple and have a cozy feeling. We didn’t want the decoration to take away from the authentic beauty of the church and the surrounding location. We used white hydrangea, succulent, vine, salix and sempe viva from Kithira. The wedding candles had pieces of sea wood that were perfect for the boho style wedding in Skopelos decor”.
What a perfect wedding bouquet for an island wedding! “The bouquet had white hyndrangea, succulent, grey vine and sempe viva from Kithira, a flower that has a significant meaning to us because Kithira was also a beloved vacation location for us! Simpre viva in latin means “always alive”… that is how we want our love to remain!..”, the bohemian bride mentioned.
The love story of Eleni and George and their unforgettable wedding in Skopelos reminds me of a quote from writer Richarch Bach that says “Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life”.
Instead of a traditional wedding reception the couple decided to have a wedding beach party.”At the beach party in Milia, we wanted our friends to feel relaxed and comfortable… We tried to create a cozy and homely atmosphere. That is why we added floor lamps in the sand and candles on the tables. Instead of chairs we had pillows that we made and gave them as gifts at the end of the party!… All the decoration details were handled by Fay! Even the latenterns were chosen carefully to match the seaside location!”, Eleni told us.
The most beautiful moment for the bride was when she and George arrived at the wedding beach party and were greeted with cheers from their friends: “When we arrived at the beach with our boat, all our frinds were standing up waiting for us and then started to dance to one of our favorite songs…”
George proposed to Eleni at Milia, the same beach were the wedding beach party was held. “We had visited Milia on a holiday and we went to see and imagine how the wedding would be. At sunset…George got on his knees and asked me if I wanted to marry him…”
Eleni’s boho style wedding was a dream come true! Her advice to all the brides planning their own wedding: “You must try to really enjoy your wedding! Be yourself! Discuss your ideas with wedding planners, find people with new and flexible ideas… Don’t be afraid of the presumed cost! In most cases the wedding planner will help you get a better deal on everything! The wedding planner is the person you work with, she is the one that will really know what you want and she might even become your friend…”
