«We met on a dating app in New York City in August 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. Given that many places in NYC were closed during the pandemic, it gave us plenty of time to get to know each other! Fast forward to the summer of 2022, while vacationing in Milos, and walking along Sarakiniko Beach, Renato surprised me. He was taking pictures of me on the beach, asked me to turn around, and was on one knee holding my engagement ring! Renato asked me to marry him in Milos. », bride shared with us.
«Renato is from Peru, and I am Greek-American with roots in Crete. Renato was happy to marry in Greece, but it was important to us both to include Peruvian details. We served pisco sour cocktails with imported Peruvian pisco, alongside a Greek mastiha cocktail. We brought “tejas” from Peru which is a chocolate covered confection, for guests to have alongside the koufetta. We displayed signs in Greek, Spanish, and English describing these treats. For music we started the night with a live Greek band and finished the night with a Latin DJ. Our floral arrangements were pale pink and light green. »
«The entrance to our wedding reception was my favorite moment! The DJ played “Trompeta” by Willy William as our entrance song. The reception staff opened the main doors at the perfect moment, and we danced into the reception venue hand in hand! All our guests were screaming with joy to see our first entrance as a married couple! »
«I ordered a lace wedding dress from Da Vinci which had a gentle V-neck in the front, and a stylish back with two top straps and a low back opening. I purposely chose a lace dress because it is a breathable material. Plus, the busy pattern of lace does not show perspiration, which was important because we got married in the Greek summer heat! »
The brides’ advice: «Make sure your wedding dress alterations include a way to bring up the hem when you switch from heels to flats. That way when your feet get tired and you’re wearing flat sandals, the dress is not too long for dancing. »
