«We met through a friend in 2016 but started dating in 2018. The friend who introduced us later became one of my maid of honors! Back in 2019, while visiting Chris’ family home in Ithaca, he suggested taking the next step and making it official, which was something that we both wanted and we agreed that it was the best thing for us to do! », bride shared with us.
«The moment we set the date, and we began searching for inspirational wedding ideas, I came across the Chic and Stylish Instagram account and instantly followed Chic and Stylish Weddings, because the simplicity of the featured weddings really spoke to us…»
«Although I don’t really believe in zodiac signs, I could say that being a Leo explains my love for sparkle, glitter, and shimmer, so it was only a matter of time before I found a dress which had these details on it! I didn’t have a specific wedding dress style in mind, however I knew that I wanted to be comfortable and cool in it, since the wedding would take place in June. While attending my third wedding dress appointment, a dress caught my attention which had elegant details of pearls, shimmer and diamantes sewed on a beautiful pattern of vintage lace, with a gorgeous back and flattering silhouette. The dress had a bodice-type of top with pearled straps, with a lightweight sparkly tulle bottom, which made me feel beautiful and comfortable. That was the moment I said ‘yes’ to the dress! I also chose to wear removable sleeves matching the lace from the gown, to wear them at the church and keeping the dress strapless. Once the ceremony was over and we headed to the reception, I removed the sleeves and adjusted the straps back on the dress, to be able to dance with ease. I only wish I could wear this dress again! »
«I really like all shades of purple, so Chris and I decided to have it as the central color scheme, but also added complimentary colors, like peach, yellow and white. Based on those colors, we chose flowers that would be in season at that time, such as hydrangea, geraldton wax, chrysanthemum, hypericum berries and roses. The reception was held outdoors in an open space, surrounded by olive trees on one of the most popular beaches of Ithaca, Filiatro. So, we decided to keep the decoration as minimal as possible, so as not to detract from the natural beauty of the surroundings. We chose white decorative with splashes of green leaves, paper lanterns and plenty of fairy lights hanging from the trees! Our fondest memory of the decorations will be the flickering lights under a starry sky, next to a glittering sea! »
«Since we agreed on not planning a ‘traditional Greek island wedding’, we thought about ways to make the wedding fun, enjoyable and unforgettable, both for us and our guests! So, we came up with three requirements: 1) Great food 2) Great music 3) Open cocktail bar. With that said, our favorite moment of our wedding is seeing everyone having a blast at the reception, either by eating some lukumades with ice-cream from the dessert buffet, dancing under the colorful flashing lights or ordering their 15th cocktail! »
The bride’s advise: «I know this will sound pretty cliché, but there is no need to stress out during the wedding planning. The only thing you need to keep in mind during that period is to plan the wedding as you and your partner please, and to not please anyone else, because there will always be someone who will not agree with or like something you want to do. Also, if you are considering hiring a wedding planner and it’s within your budget, I encourage you to do so. They will assist you in ways you cannot imagine and will make sure your special day is exactly as you have imagined it! »
