Antigone and Ted wanted their Santorini wedding ceremony to take place in one of the most beautiful churches on the island, known for its breathtaking view of the volcano and the caldera… the Orthodox Cathedral in Fira.
“ Ted and I were both born and raised in NYC and although we are quintessential New Yorkers, we grew up heavily influenced by the customs and traditions of our Greek heritage. When Ted proposed, we knew that we wanted to have a destination wedding and that the obvious choice would be Greece where we both spend many of our summers. We decided on the island of Santorini because we not only believe it to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world, but also because we feel it embodies all of the elements of our rich culture and we wanted to reflect this in our wedding and share it with our family and friends”.
” For her Santorini wedding, Antigone was looking for the perfect island wedding dress and as she mentions: “ I knew that I wanted to find a lace wedding dress that would be fitted and light since this was going to be a summer island wedding. The first time I tried on wedding dresses was at Bergdorf Goodman and as I waited for my appointment I noticed one of the bridal consultants disappearing to the back of the salon with another bride to be carrying this dress that caught my attention right away. My bridal consultant had set aside a few dresses for me that I tried on but I could not get my mind off this dress! I requested the dress and the moment I slipped it on I knew this was the one for me! It was light and hugged in all the right places. It felt youthful but also traditional. The lace pattern and detail was so unique, it was unlike any other lace dress I had ever seen. I loved that the dress had a vintage look especially with the blush-beige color of the lining.”
The designer Ines Di Santo, for each wedding dress that she designs, adds her personal touch because she believes that “ Your wedding day is your chance to have your red carpet moment…”
The bridal bouquet was chic and romantic with baby’s breath and white orchid details.
Antigone’s advice to other brides that are planning their own destination wedding: “ If you are planning on a destination wedding like our Santorini wedding, definitely hire a wedding planner because it is very difficult to stay on top of things when dealing with time differences and differences in the way business is conducted in different countries. Also, if possible plan for a destination you have been to before and has special meaning to you both. This will help with creating a style/concept but will also describe you as a couple”.
The most romantic moment for Antigone was when she saw her husband for the first time on her wedding day: “In that very moment I felt such a complete happiness and a great calm washed over me because everything felt like it had fallen right into place for me…”

Wedding planners Stella & Moscha mentioned: “When Antigone first approached us she had clear vision from the start about the style of her wedding in Santorini. It had to be chic, contemporary and with references to local customs. The reception took place at the Pyrgos restaurant gardens; the same beautiful stunning view of the entire island”. The handmade wedding favors and incredible centerpieces by Kokkinos Flowers added an artistic flair to wedding decoration.
During the wedding reception, guests were offered black and white cake pops.
“I will remember most the ceremony and our first dance as husband and wife. As the wedding day progressed it was so wonderful to see our family and friends together, some of who travelled from very far away, to share in our happiness and to celebrate this joyous occasion”.
