This wedding in Crete has all the lovely details of a fairytale wedding… just like the one we dream about as little girls. Becca and Will planned their fall wedding in Crete on a traditional farm location between vineyards and olive trees… overlooking the gorgeous sea.
Becca started her wedding day with breakfast with her mother and future mother in law and then they all enjoyed manicures. Later on the bride and her girlfriends got prepared at the Minos Mare Beach Resort & Spa in Rethymno.
Becca mentioned to us about her elegant wedding dress: “I asked a close friend of mine, Sophie to come dress shopping with me and my mum. We visited two shops over one weekend and by the end of it I had chosen my dream dress! My mum had spotted a new dress shop opening in Tarporley, a small village in Cheshire, North West England. It had only just opened when we visited and I’m sure I tried on every dress in the shop. The shop owners are mother and daughter, Kate and Elizabeth. Kate was so patient and lovely throughout the whole process from trying it on to ordering and making the final adjustments – she made the whole experience very special and fun! The dress designer is Caroline Atelier and the fabric is a very soft satin with lace decoration on the back and train. I really loved my finger-lengthveil and I kept it on as long as possible until it fell out during the whole wedding party Greek dancing!”
“My wedding dress rehearsal was a great experience and lots of fun… trying on all the dresses. I chose my own because I felt elegant and glamorous in it (and a little bit sexy!). It fitted really well and it was so soft and easy to wear. It also seemed perfect for the climate in Crete and I felt gorgeous in it all day!”
Will wore a grey suit with a white shirt without a tie. A casual groom’s attire that was perfect for the wedding in Crete and the rustic theme.
The wedding in Crete had a few heartfelt details that truly impressed the guests. One of them was the the photographs from the bride and groom’s families. Photos with family members from their childhood until today. Priceless.
The most beautiful moment for Becca was when she saw Will waiting for her at the ceremony: “Seeing Will standing there and waiting for me at the end of the aisle as I walked in… I thought before I might cry but I was so happy to see him and to be getting married I just kept smiling throughout the whole day!”
“We didn’t have a strong theme as we felt the farm had a natural beauty which we really liked and didn’t want to change. We used fall colors like cream, light green and burgundy for the details such as flowers, bridesmaid dresses and confetti”, the beautiful bride told us.
“Will proposed when he whisked me away on a romantic weekend away to Bath. Will had secretly arranged an extra day off with my boss at work (she was in on it too!) and during a walk around the grounds of Stourhead country house, South West England, Will asked if I’d promise to be with him forever. Then he got down on one knee and I burst into tears of joy! It was beautiful. Only then did I find out he had arranged a night’s stay in a gorgeous boutique hotel nearby which included spa treatments for us both. It could not have been more perfect!”
Becca’s advice to other couples planning a destination wedding: “Get a wedding planner! They know the local area, the people and the ins and outs of how to get your marriage registered legally. Have ideas on what you’d prefer but be open to what’s available even if it isn’t exactly what you’d want. We were set on having an exclusive place to stay for just our guests however this was not possible within our budget. In the end it didn’t make any difference to how much we enjoyed it. Bear in mind how your guests will get there and how much it could cost them. We honestly couldn’t have done it without our planner Annika Schneider. Having her there meant we didn’t worry about a thing all day and were simply able to enjoy the event!”
