Cristin and Alexis chose to seal their love in one of the most gorgeous, romantic islands… Santorini! They decided to create an intimate wedding with the most important people of their lives and celebrate all together this special day. The luxurious Rocabella Santorini Hotel & Spa was gorgeously decorated with minimal yet timeless decoration in white and green hues. Fresh white flowers, gold touches, geometric details and small candles completed the whole scene and added the essential sense of elegance and romance. The bride shared with us: “We met as kids. Our houses were across the creek from each other but became friends in high school. It wasn’t until we were adults that we reconnected. We were close friends for years, talking every day, before we began dating. He won me over with his love of cooking and fine wines and kind, gentle demeanor. He proposed late one evening, the night after Christmas as we lay in bed. He handed me “one more present” and as I lay there stunned, he came around and got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I was completely surprised!”
“The ceremony took place in Santorini, at the Rocabella Santorini Hotel & Spa overlooking the caldera and the beautiful sunset on the water. When we first began talking, I told Alexis I had always dreamed of going to Santorini. Alexis travelled to Greece often to visit family, and promised one day that he would take me there. I never thought he would take me there to get married however. When we got engaged, we knew it was the perfect place to begin our life together.”
“When I first went looking at dresses I was not sure what I wanted. When I found the dress, I fell in love with the stunning jewelry and beading on the back! There happened to be a portrait artist in the shop at the time, and when I came out with the dress on she drew a sketch of me in the dress and gave it to me. It all fell into place like it was meant to be, I could not have asked for anything more.”
“We wanted to keep everything very simple and surround ourselves with the people that mean the most to us. We keep the guest list small and intimate. We kept the décor very minimal yet timeless, and stayed with clean whites and reflective surfaces such as glass and mirrors to reflect the beauty around us.”
“For my flower bouquet I picked white peonies, I love their simplicity, beauty and fragrance.”
“We like simple, elegant decor so we went with clean whites, glass, and lots of candles. Santorini is so naturally beautiful we did not feel the need to decorate our surroundings with distractions. Pinterest was a huge inspiration! You can find so many ideas that it makes the process quite easy. The hardest part was making sure that all of the elements went together and choosing from so many beautiful ideas!”
“The best moment of our wedding was when the sun was setting around us and we had a moment just to ourselves. We were holding hands and looking out at everyone, our friends, our family, all the people that we love that had travelled to celebrate with us and it was just perfect. We were so grateful to just have everyone there with us, smiling, and enjoying themselves, we felt like the luckiest people in the world. Besides that, Katerina Ntini, our wedding planner, had arranged a surprise for us. She had plates made and had the Greek dancers hand them out while we danced. The sheer joy as everyone broke their plates was infectious, we had such a grand time!”
“My advice to a bride-to-be is to not sweat the small stuff. No matter what happens, this special day will be a perfect memory that she can cherish forever!”
