I just love this colorful wedding in Provence that photographer Anna Roussos is sharing with us today… Ultra romantic portraits of the loving couple in a serene country style location in France that looks absolutely enchanting! “We had a beautiful ceremony at a country house in the small village overlooking the Mountains and river below”, the bride told us.
“We both wanted to be somewhere that could offer beautiful scenery, our favorite foods, and of course good wine! We had been to France together before and loved it, so we decided to find somewhere that our friends and family could travel to and we landed on Provence. We were adamant about making our wedding feel more like a holiday with our closest friends and family. France did not let us down…”
“We met at a local bar in my hometown. It wasn’t in my Friday evening plans, but my sister and I ended up at this place after cancelling our original plans – I’m so glad we cancelled!”
“My wonderful mother-in-law found the country house after my many failed attempts at finding the right place. From there, our talented friend and florist, Charley Gynn, who was also invited to the wedding helped me make the big decisions on colors and décor based on flower choices and my personal tastes. Our lovely hosts Nick and Mia who run the country house were so helpful in working with us from overseas to get everything in order”
The wedding proposal: “We went to Robin’s hometown of Bath, England for Christmas as we often do. We were supposed to meet our closest friends for a nice x-mas eve dinner, but little did I know Robin had other plans for us. We headed out for the evening and he led me to a horse and carriage where there was champagne waiting for us. I still didn’t know he was going to propose! We talked a lot about how happy we are together and why we love one another during our ride around the city until we came to a stop and he led me down a secluded street in town, got down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife. The same friends we were supposed to be meeting for dinner were all waiting to congratulate us at a nearby pub”
We completely heart these adorable first look photos of Allison and Robin moments before their wedding…
Allison mentioned about the style of her colorful wedding in Provence: “I decided to keep everything simple as being so far away made planning a little tricky. Nick and Mia have hosted several weddings at the house so I used some photos from previous weddings to get a good idea for the scenery. The home and natural backdrop are so gorgeous there’s little need for much else. There are the options to hire outside vendors at Le Foulon, but I was more than happy with what they could provide themselves”
“I chose wedding colors based on the décor provided at Le Foulon and the flowers which were in season. As we were surrounded by nature I wanted the flowers to go along with the summer countryside vibes. There wasn’t one specific color theme that we chose”
The bride’s advice: ” Relax and take your time, there is no rush! Try to really take it all in and enjoy every step of the process as it goes by so quickly…”
“I spent months browsing boutiques and look-books online, but I was adamant about not spending too much money on a dress I would only wear once, and for a few hours at that. I really wanted to keep it simple and elegant. I was incredibly lucky to find my dress on an online winter sale! I purchased it with no expectation of it fitting or suiting my body type (who is brave enough to buy their dress online without seeing it in person?!). To my surprise, I fell in love with it the second I opened the package. Also, it wasn’t big and bulky so it made carrying it through a couple of airports and trains much easier!”
“We used the chairs and Persian rugs that Nick and Mia kept as décor in the home as they went perfectly with the natural backdrop. Our florist did a wonderful job decorating the alter with some of the flowers we were using along with some shrubbery she collected from the surrounding woods”
“The best decision I made was to trust that everything would come together just perfectly. The home, the scenery, the local musicians, Nick’s delicious cooking, the tasty local wine – it was all perfect. I honestly have no complaints or regrets about any of it!”
The bride’s favorite moment form her colorful wedding in Provence:“It’s difficult to choose, I loved every moment of our wedding! Perhaps the moment Robin and I walked down the aisle after speaking our vows to one another and kissed as husband and wife. I had imagined that moment for months! The whole experience was more wonderful than I ever could have imagined. Some of our closest friends and family being there to share that time with us was very special for both of us”
