I have been an admirer of photographer Adam Alex’s work for quite some time, adoring beautiful and timeless weddings that are wonderfully captured. Images with amazing colors and with so many emotions… images that have so much to say. I am thrilled and at the same time so humbled to actually share with you today this beyond gorgeous wedding, the heartwarming and romantic love story of Abi and Alex.
The bride shared with us:”We met in a club in east London 7 years ago. He proposed on a very hot summers afternoon after work in our new flat that we had just finished renovating then we went for a meal to celebrate…”
“My family have been coming to Hydra since my mom was 17… so is very close to all of our hearts. Alex is half Greek- Cypriot also so it seemed to make sense. We always knew we wanted to get married abroad for a big party with our friends and family in great weather and a fabulous setting”
“My wedding dress was by Suzanna Neville and it was actually not the dress I originally picked. I had recently had my son when I chose my original dress and so went for a completely different style. Once I lost all my baby weight (about 8 months later) I knew it wasn’t right and the ladies at Ellie Sanderson were absolutely fantastic and I went back to try on a couple more. As soon as I put the dress on I had that “perfect dress” moment. My mom and me both cried and that was it…”
“I just asked the florist to pick pale pinks and creams with old roses and whatever else she was able to get at that time of year…We had little centerpieces of flowers on every table which were beautiful”.
“Our best decision was to get married on Hydra without a doubt, and to hire our own villa for the two weeks we were there so we could host parties in the week leading up to the wedding with all our friends. There is nothing I would change about our wedding it really was my absolute dream week and day, so there were no bad decisions that I can remember…”
“I have two best moments of the wedding. My first was my dad walking me towards Alex and seeing him waiting there with the most amazing backdrop of the sea. And my second was after we got married we had 5 minutes to sit down on our own with a Mojito and I just remember us grinning at each other with the sun setting. Perfect.”
“We didn’t have a concept as such, we just knew that we wanted as relaxed and informal feel as possible… Very beachy and a fantastic place to host a big party with all our friends and family. Castellos Bar and Restaurant looks right over the sea and the sea and beach theme was probably the most prominent in the wedding”.
The bride’s advise: “I would say to someone planning their wedding to go with whatever makes you happy. Try not to get too weighed down by other people’s opinions of what they think your wedding should be like. Everyone will have their own opinions but at the end of the day you will only get one chance for this day and it should be about what you and your fiancé want. And soak up every second of the day, it’s magical!”
