“I looked at Leonidas waiting for me at the end of the aisle with tears in his eyes. At that moment, it was like there was no one in the room except from us two. Everyone vanished. It was a magical feeling” shared the lovely bride of today’s featured wedding. With huge floral arrangements, many candles and gold and burgundy details in the decoration, this glamorous wedding is just fabulous!
“We have known each other from a young age, because we were both involved in the Greek community (our churches), but we were always just friends. In 2013, we coincidentally were at the same bar celebrating the Blackhawks Stanley Cup Championship with friends. Since then we have been inseparable”.
“On September 11, Leonidas popped the question while finishing up our romantic dinner at STK, in New York City. While waiting for our dessert to arrive to our table, the song “Let’s Get Married” by Jagged Edge came on and that was Leonidas sign it was the perfect moment to ask me to marry him. While fumbling to get the ring out of his pocket, he dropped it! I thought he dropped his fork, so we both looked under the table, but when I got back up he was sitting there holding my ring”.
“The ceremony took place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Elmhurst, IL. I have been attending that church from a little girl. I am very close with Father Andrew and I wanted him to do us the honor of marrying us”.
“One of my best moment was walking down the aisle and seeing everyone smiling and snapping pictures of my dad and I. Then I looked at Leonidas waiting for me at the end of the aisle with tears in his eyes. At that moment it was like there was no one in the room except from us two. Everyone vanished. It was magical feeling”.
“My bouquet was all deep red (burgundy) roses. The stem was covered in lace from my mom’s wedding dress. And I have a picture of my grandmother and I in a heart charm. She passed away a year earlier and it was difficult to not have her there. Before walking down the aisle with my dad, I looked down at my charm and smiled. It took everything I had for me not cry”.
“My dress was from Kleinfelds in New York City, where the show “Say Yes to the Dress” is filmed. My mom, sister and I would always watch the show together. I would always say “I’m going there to get a wedding dress one day.” And that day finally came. I got to meet with the designer Pnina Tornai and she custom made my dress to fit the style that I was looking for. The dress was perfect for me in every way. And to top it off, I incorporated my mom’s sleeves from her wedding dress. To my surprise the sleeves matched perfectly. Something old with my something new!”
“I am a very picky person and I needed everything to be perfect and the way I pictured it in my head. I did look through different magazines and wedding websites (pinterest) for ideas. But I wanted something unique, things that no one else had before. I wanted my wedding to stick out and leave a lasting impression for our guests. So that being said, I worked very closely with my wedding planner, so we can come up with ideas that others haven’t had”.
“The style of my wedding was sexy glam. I love rich colors like gold and burgundy. The flowers and decorations really made the room transform into what I always envisioned. Huge floral arrangements with a ton of candles filling the dim room up with just enough light. The luscious table clothes on the different sized tables and gold wooden chairs made the room comfortable for all our guests. We were really focused on making our wedding a big dance party with delicious food and amazing music”.
Bride’s advice: “Do what your heart desires! It’s only one day and it goes by fast. Capture every moment of it”.
