“We met during our student days back in the year 2013. I was studying in England back then for my bachelor’s degree and decided to go for an Erasmus Programme over to The Netherlands. That was where I met my husband as he was also on the Erasmus Programme in The Netherlands. He later decided to enroll and pursue his master’s degree in England in the same university as I was in, and we later graduated together in 2015. I decided to head back to my home country Singapore after graduation and Michal made the decision to follow me back home. We started our careers in Singapore and have been residing there since. In July 2017, Michal had planned a 4 days 3 nights trip for us over to Bintan, Indonesia. He had booked Banyan Tree Bintan for this trip and on the 28th of July 2017, which was our anniversary date, he arranged for our villa to be decorated for the evening and booked a private fine dining arrangement at the comfort of our own villa. When I opened the door that evening, I was mesmerized by the romantic candles and decorations and went out to the balcony where our tables were already set up for dinner. It was a very lovely and memorable evening and Michal proposed to me just as we had finished up our starters and waiting for our main course to be ready! He asked me to cover my eyes as he had prepared a gift for me, and when I opened my eyes, I saw the ring in front of me followed by him giving a speech. Needless to say, I said Yes!”, the bride shared with us.
“For my bouquet, I opted for pastel colors of blue, pink and white mixes. The ceremony and reception were held at Venetsanos Winery, which I fell in love with immediately when I saw pictures of this venue online. Our theme for the ceremony and reception area was more on the rustic soft romantic style, with us opting for wooden chairs and table for that rustic element feel, along with lanterns on the floor within the venue, paired along with decoration items in the colour of green, blue and white. The flowers we used for the arch during the ceremony is pastel off white with green leaves and with the backdrop being the dead drop gorgeous and breathtaking Aegean Sea. We have selected a dusty blue colour table runner along with pastel blue flowers as centerpieces to be placed on the wooden dining table, and also arranged for fairy lights to be installed around the area to suit that rustic soft romantic style we were going for. I also ordered personalized agate slices place cards which were all handwritten with our respective guest’s name on them- that was something I was really pleased with because they were so personal, and each agate slice is unique in its shape and size. One other thing I really enjoyed having at our reception was the donut wall, not only was it so interesting aesthetics wise, but who does not like a donut? The cake was another thing that I was pleased about in terms of the presentation, as I wanted a very beautiful whimsical cake and the chef have managed to prepare it just the way I wanted it to be. The flavour was red velvet, something that both Michal and I really like”.
“Our wedding was spread over 2 days with the guests. The first being the wedding day itself on the 22nd August 2022 at Venetsanos Winery (Ceremony and Reception) and the day after which we booked Theros Wave Bar whereby it was more of a chill and casual hang out gathering with friends and families by the beach along with food and drinks. My favorite moment from wedding would have been the first dance in front of our friends and family. This was the first time ever Michal and I danced so formally but I am very proud of Michal being able to master the Waltz. During the first dance, we had ground sparklers activated whilst dancing, accompanied by a minute of sky fireworks, and I can still remember this scene so vividly because it was so beautiful and romantic”.
“I had a total of 3 dresses, all of which were purchased and customized in Singapore, and I brought them over with me to Santorini. The first wedding dress we had it customized to be very light weight which is what my wedding designer specializes in. We wanted it not only to be light weight so that it is very easy to walk about when wearing the dress, but also something that was very soft and had the romantic feel to it. I wore that dress in Santorini for my pre-wedding shoot day. The second dress, I had it customized for my actual wedding day. My designer had opted for a more elegant look to it and had a ballroom layered skirt and the top to focus on the neckline with the lace applique sewed by hand. My third dress was the evening dress which I had changed into after dinner, when we were playing the wedding games, having our first dance all the way to the end of the night. I opted for an oriental cheongsam style dress to reflect my Asian heritage, and for the colours to be reflecting Santorini colours which were white and blue flowers”.
Bride’s advice: “Plan in advance because depending on the venue you will be looking to get married at, the venues are booked up rather fast especially the popular ones. You may have a specific date in mind as well so it will be good to be the early bird in order to secure your preferred wedding date! Also, do book and reserve your vendors early as well to have that peace of mind, and read carefully the contracts given especially in an unforeseen circumstance where if you need to postpone the wedding to a different date, how flexible will the vendors be as an example. I would highly recommend a wedding planner because it is so worth it to calm your nerves during the entire wedding planning process, and really just so you have a professional team to be on ready standby on the actual wedding day!”
