“We got married in summer in Kefalonia island. We met whilst both working for the ambulance service and based at the same ambulance station. We were friends for several years before going on our first official date, we went to see Mama Mia the stage show in London. Sam proposed at Bedgebury pine forest on a snowy Valentine’s Day. This is one of our favourite places to walk with our dog Kali. The snow made for a beautiful backdrop. Sam will say it was all rather stressful and didn’t go exactly to plan. He had placed a ring on Kali’s dog collar but she then disappeared in to the bushes, she did not stick to the brief given”, Sian shared with us.
“My wedding dress came from Love Spell Design, I visited there London shop. I had seen their dresses online and knew I wanted to go and try them on. I wore their Aimee dress. It was a very simple crepe Aline dress with a love v-neck and low back. The straps at the back were sheer with lace detailing. The best part of this dress is the train which has lace and Pearl detailing. You can wear the dress with or without the train making for two individual looks. I loved that I could wear the full train for the ceremony and then remove it to have more of an evening dress look for the reception and dancing”.
“Having visited Kefalonia on our first holiday together we knew it was where we wanted to have our wedding. We envisioned a little white chapel set in the beautiful Greek scenery. We both decided we wanted quite a simple, rustic style wedding. Having visited Kefalonia before we knew how stunningly beautiful the scenery is so wanted this to be the highlight. We used a lot of foliage and olive leaves throughout the bouquets, aisle and arch decorations. I had found a picture online of a bouquet using hypericum berries and once I showed this to our wedding planner we had to try and replicate it! It added a little pop of colour and extra detailing, it also worked really well with the colour of the church at our reception venue. We also used the same hypericum on each individual place setting which tied everything together”.
“It is hard to pick one individual favorite moment. I think I had a real wow moment when I arrived at the chapel and could see the whole creation together for the first time. The beautiful flowers, all our important family and friends, and Sam waiting at the end of the aisle in front on the gorgeous little chapel. All to the sound of the mandolin”.
Bride’s advice: “Trust your wedding planner! They are fab at what they do! Carol form Mythos Weddings was able to guide us in what would work in our chosen setting, even giving thought to when to eat to avoid wasps! And ultimately when your special day arrives take in every second of it! Don’t worry about weather forecasts, if it rains it rains. I promise you, you won’t care a bit”.
“All I can say is we had our dream day. We call it our Greek fairytail. I encourage anyone to be brave and plan a wedding abroad if it’s what you dream off, it seems a daunting task but it is possible and you will definitely not regret it!”
