From Lefkas Wedding: “Linda and David came over from their holiday in Kefalonia in 2020 to meet me and visit villas in Lefkada. They choose a beautiful villa in Lefkada and Linda told me her dream was always a flower-filled wedding. Covid flight cancellations meant we had to move the initial date in July to the end of August but with the villa unable to accommodate us I reached out to my partner Rebecca at Exclusive Meganisi who was able to offer us a brand-new villa on Meganisi for the new wedding date. So with just over a month to the wedding, we had a change of date and change of island! This was all taken care of quickly and efficiently for the clients and the ceremony took place at the plateia in Spartohori village known as the stefani due to its crown shape with impressive panoramic views of Lefkada, and the Onassis private island of Skorpios. Linda wore a dove grey/blue printed and hand-painted gown with texturized silk organza, by Leanne Marshall. Her daughters who were the two bridesmaids wore dresses in the color of summer berries. Davids son, Nathan was his best man and both wore vintage-inspired tailoring by London tailor Marc Darcy”.
The bride shared with us: “David and I have known each other for about 25 years as colleagues and friends watching our families growing up together. After big changes in both our personal lives our relationship blossomed into something special. David proposed on 25 July 2020, at Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall, Wales and we both knew we wanted to get married in Lefkada which is where we had our first holiday together as a family”.
“We were married at the Stafani, Spartochori, on Meganisi Island – a beautiful square with a panoramic view over the neighbouring islands. The flowers were the centrepiece of the ceremony. Large baskets of seasonal flowers complimented with pampas. There were additional baskets lining the aisle and candle arrangements. The color scheme was pastel. My bouquet was a waterfall style made up of roses, lilies and seasonal flowers which was beautiful. I didn’t request any specific flowers however I did ask for olive foliage to represent the Greek vibe. After the ceremony we walked down the hill, through the trees to the harbor below where speedboats were waiting to transfer us and our guests back to the villa reception. This was a real highlight for everyone. We had a few minutes on the harbour alone while waiting for the boat to return for us which was really special”.
“My dress was a beautiful dress called Raincloud by Leanne Marshall from New York. I knew I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress and also knew I didn’t want white. It was a simple dove grey/blue hand painted silk dress with spaghetti straps and a silk organza skirt, perfect for the location, and I loved wearing it. I have so many favorite moments from my wedding day. One was seeing David’s face as I walked down the aisle towards him. Another memorable moment was the speedboat transfer which we were not sure would go ahead due to the bad weather in the afternoon. None of our guests knew this was going to happen and they all loved the experience of being whisked from the harbour to our own private jetty at Villa Sophia for the evening reception. Another highlight was watching the lightning flash across the night sky creating our own private firework display! Prior to the wedding we chartered the MS Christina for a private cruise for the whole party which everyone enjoyed. We spent the day cruising the islands stopping for swimming and snorkelling whilst enjoying a buffet lunch and cocktails”.
“Our reception was intimate yet informal and held back at our villa by the pool. Because of a freak storm that blew up just before the ceremony all the tables and seating had to be moved indoors, however, when we returned it was all set up beautifully. The floral arrangements were transported back from the ceremony and there were also beautiful floating flower and fairy light arrangements in the pool which was just magical. There were fairy lights and candles on the tables to complement the amazing meal prepared for us. We chose not to have a DJ or live music and instead created a playlist of our own special songs which was played throughout the reception. The evening was topped off with sparklers for the guests and fireworks around the pool. It was a truly amazing day which no one will forget”.
“Having Claire from Lefkas Weddings plan our day meant that there was nothing for us to worry about – all we had to do was turn up. From initial contact Claire guided us through the legalities of getting married in Greece as well as how the whole process works. She was on hand any time to advise with paperwork and general advice, Due to covid we had to reschedule 6 weeks prior to our wedding – not only did we change date but we changed island. Claire delivered at every level and made sure we had the wedding we didn’t know we wanted! We could not have achieved what we did if it wasn’t for her and her excellent expertise, team and local knowledge so my advice would be to use a trusted wedding planner – you won’t regret it!”
