Anytime we receive a destination wedding from photographer George Pahountis we know it is going to have us smiling from ear to ear… and this lovely elopement in Santorini proves no less. From the breathtaking location at the Canaves Hotel, the beautiful pink lilies and lavender roses, the gorgeous Lillian West wedding dress, this summer wedding in Santorini is bound to leave you enchanted!
“We were set up by a mutual friend and met on a blind date. Eight months later, Olimpio took Christine to a lake in Central Park. He rented a small boat and after rowing in the lake for a little while, he surprised her by getting down on one knee (not an easy thing to do in a rocky boat!) and asking her to marry him. She said yes!”
“The ceremony took place in Oia, Santorini, on a beautiful terrace at Canaves Hotel. Our photographer George Pahountis took us to the most scenic spots (some of which required hiking and getting out of the way of passing donkeys!). Since this was an elopement, it was important that the photographs captured the essence and excitement of the day so we could share it with our family and friends back home. George truly has an amazing gift of storytelling with his photographs…”
“It had always been a dream of Christine to visit Santorini and to have a honeymoon there. We just wanted to have an intimate ceremony in this dream location, a romantic wedding with warm colors like pink, peach and lavender, with dark purple accents. We also went for a combination of rustic charm and traditional Greek…”
The best moment of your wedding:“When Olimpio saw Christine coming down the stairs and when Christine joined Olimpio before the ceremony began. Also after the ceremony, we were sitting at the terrace of Canaves Hotel waiting for our dinner to come out and we were marveling at the beauty of the Santorini sunset!”
“Our flowers had pink lilies, peach and lavender roses, with dark berries for contrast. Our wedding planner, Maria Sila from Tie the Knot Santorini, tended to every detail. Everything was simple but elegant. Beautiful flowers adorned a wooden arch and we sat at a dinner table with a light pink tablecloth that matched the color of the Santorini sunset that evening. Subtle gold accents were present in the table settings and chairs. We tried to keep the decor simple and understated… with breathtaking views like that, who needs much decoration?”

The bride’s advice: “Remember that the most important thing is to stay connected with each other. Don’t let the details overwhelm you and try not to lose sight of what really matters, which is your relationship. Remember to have fun and enjoy!”
